Marketing Manager
Alpha Inc. · Maui, Hawaii, United States
The Opportunity
Alpha Inc. isn’t looking for someone to simply manage the marketing calendar.
We’re looking for someone who can build the strategy, rally the team, own the budget, strengthen relationships across Hawai?i—and prove what’s actually working.
This is a hands-on leadership role for a marketer who understands that great marketing is bigger than social posts, sponsorships, events, and communications. It’s about connecting strategy + relationships + data + dollars + execution to meaningful business results.
You’ll own Alpha’s overall marketing strategy and brand direction, lead the Marketing team, build stronger systems and measurement practices, and help determine where Alpha should show up, where we should invest, and where we should change course.
One day you may be reviewing KPIs and marketing spend with leadership. The next, you’re building a community partnership on another island, coaching your team through a campaign, evaluating a sponsorship opportunity, or rolling up your sleeves to get a high-priority initiative across the finish line.
If your idea of marketing leadership is equal parts strategist, relationship builder, operator, coach, and brand champion—we should talk.
About Alpha Inc.
Founded and grown in Hawai?i, Alpha Inc. is a locally owned leader whose work spans construction, concrete, drilling, energy, infrastructure and vertical. Our story is told through the projects we build, the people behind them, the communities we serve, and the relationships we earn.
Marketing's job is to make that story matter—and make sure our investment in telling it has purpose.
We live by three core values:
Leading with Heart – Build relationships with humility and respect. Listen with intention, accept feedback with positive intent, and help people grow.
Strength in Unity – One team, many talents. Collaborate across departments, islands, projects, and communities because the best work happens together.
Alpha Mentality – Take ownership. Solve problems. Raise the bar. Keep improving. And when something isn't working, don't hide from it—fix it.
As Marketing Manager, you’ll be expected to bring those values to life in how you lead your team, represent Alpha, build partnerships, and deliver results.
What You Will Own
Build the Marketing Strategy—Then Make It Happen
- Develop and own Alpha’s annual marketing strategy and plan, translating company growth priorities, recruiting needs, business development objectives, culture, and community presence into focused initiatives.
- Create a clear roadmap so Marketing operates proactively instead of reactively—with defined priorities, campaigns, calendars, owners, deadlines, and outcomes.
- Know when to protect the plan and when a new opportunity is worth changing it.
Own the Dollars—and the Results
- Manage marketing initiatives within the approved budget and make thoughtful decisions about where Alpha’s marketing dollars can create the greatest impact.
- Establish meaningful KPIs, dashboards, and reporting across campaigns, digital channels, events, sponsorships, partnerships, content, and other marketing investments.
- We don't want reporting for reporting's sake. We want a leader who asks:
- What worked? What didn't? Why? What did we learn? And where should we put the next dollar?
- Use data, audience insights, feedback, and business priorities to continually improve Alpha’s marketing effectiveness.
Build Relationships Across Hawai?i
- Be a visible, credible, relationship-driven ambassador for Alpha across Maui, O'ahu, Kaua'i, and Hawai'i Island.
- Develop meaningful relationships with community organizations, clients, industry partners, vendors, and other stakeholders.
- You'll need to be comfortable walking into a room where you know everyone—and one where you know no one.
- Either way, you'll know how to build genuine relationships that strengthen Alpha's reputation and create long-term value.
Make Sponsorships & Events Earn Their Keep
- Lead Alpha’s approach to events, sponsorships, community involvement, and external visibility.
- Evaluate opportunities based on strategic value and alignment, not simply whether putting Alpha's logo somewhere sounds good.
- Define the objective before the event. Know what success looks like. Make sure Alpha shows up well. Then evaluate whether the investment delivered.
Lead the Brand & Tell Stories That Matter
- Own Alpha’s overall brand strategy, messaging, standards, and direction across internal and external channels.
- Ensure Alpha’s people, projects, culture, capabilities, accomplishments, and community impact are represented consistently and authentically.
- Provide strategic direction across website, social media, email, internal communications, recruiting and employer-brand initiatives, campaigns, photography, video, collateral, and other content.
- Protect the brand without making the brand boring.
Build a High-Performing Marketing Team
- Lead, coach, and develop Alpha’s Creative Specialist and Marketing & Communications Specialist, establishing clear expectations, priorities, accountability, and performance standards.
- Give talented people the clarity and support they need to do excellent work.
- Create an environment where creativity and accountability coexist—and where the team understands not only what they're doing, but why it matters.
Build the Marketing Machine
- Create and improve the workflows, intake processes, approval standards, calendars, systems, content libraries, and operating rhythms that allow Marketing to execute consistently and efficiently.
- Maintain visibility into priorities, deadlines, capacity, and deliverables.
- Remove bottlenecks before they become excuses.
- Partner effectively with HR, Recruiting, Business Development, Operations, leadership, and project teams so marketing requests become clear business objectives—not an endless queue of disconnected tasks.
- And when something important needs to get done, be willing to jump in and execute.
What Success Looks Like
This isn't a role where success is measured by how busy Marketing looks.
Success means Marketing becomes a strategic, organized, accountable business function that demonstrably strengthens Alpha's people, brand, reputation, relationships, recruiting, business development, and growth.
What You Bring
- You’re a strategic marketer and relationship builder who can see the big picture without losing your ability—or willingness—to execute.
- You bring 5+ years of progressive experience in marketing, communications, brand management, or a related discipline, with demonstrated experience developing and executing marketing strategies and campaigns. Previous leadership or people-management experience is preferred.
- A bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Business, or a related field is preferred.
- More importantly, you can demonstrate that you have:
-
- Built and executed marketing plans tied to organizational objectives.
- Managed budgets and made disciplined investment decisions.
- Established KPIs and used data to evaluate performance and adjust strategy.
- Led campaigns, content, brand, digital marketing, and communications.
- Built productive relationships with senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
- Managed competing priorities without allowing everything to become a priority.
- Built processes, workflows, calendars, and standards that make a marketing function stronger.
- Coached people, created accountability, and developed a team.
- Communicated exceptionally well—in writing, in presentations, one-on-one, and in the community.
- Operated comfortably as both strategist and doer.
Experience in construction, engineering, architecture, energy, professional services, or a related industry is a plus.
