Your role and responsibilities
Do you want to contribute to Finland’s carbon-neutral goals? Approximately 70% of Finland electricity is consumed in electrical motors. Energy efficient motors and drive control play major role towards the net zero goals. Join our company and the team overseeing the Motors and Drives and help advance the Energy Efficiency Movement.
We are now looking for an Application Engineer at ABB Oy, Drive Products division in Pitäjänmäki, Helsinki. We work in hybrid model and in this role you need to be in the office about 50% of your time.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to develop and maintain application software for drives including code development, documentation, testing and support. Development is often done together with the customers. You will be part of OEM hub team and co-operate with drives factory R&D. This is a global role and involves also traveling around 50 days per year.
You will be mainly accountable for:
- Developing applications for drives
- Creating test cases and ensuring the tests for the application
- Application documentation
- Support for the customers.
- Developing solution and concepts in close collaboration with customers
- Sharing solutions and application knowhow within the global OEM community
Qualifications for the role
- Programming skills (python, c/c++, IEC61131)
- Understanding physics, especially kinematics and mechanics
- B.Sc. or M.Sc in engineering or a similar degree
- Willingness to travel internationally around 50 days per year
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, and you enjoy collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
- Understanding electrical design and ability to read schematics
- Motion application knowhow and understanding of fieldbus technologies are beneficial
