The Salesforce Reporting & Analytics Specialist is a member of Sales Operations responsible for developing, maintaining, and governing Salesforce reports, dashboards, and commercial analytics solutions. This role helps leaders and business teams turn Salesforce data into accurate, timely, and actionable insights that support pipeline management, forecasting, revenue visibility, opportunity tracking, quote performance, and executive decision-making.
The specialist will partner across Sales, Sales Operations, Finance, Product, Engineering, and other commercial teams to understand reporting needs, translate business questions into scalable analytics solutions, and ensure that Salesforce reporting reflects established business processes and definitions. The role will also strengthen reporting governance, reduce manual data requests, promote self-service analytics, and establish the data foundation needed for future automation, advanced analytics, and AI-enabled capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Salesforce Reporting and Dashboard Development
- Design, build, validate, and maintain Salesforce reports and dashboards that support commercial, operational, forecasting, and executive reporting needs.
- Develop reporting solutions that provide visibility into pipeline, revenue, opportunity progression, quote performance, forecast performance, and other business-critical metrics.
- Establish scalable reporting structures that meet both immediate business requirements and longer-term analytical needs.
- Optimize dashboards and reporting processes to improve usability, performance, consistency, and stakeholder adoption.
- Build solutions that reduce manual reporting activity and expand access to self-service insights.
Forecasting and Pipeline Analytics
- Develop and maintain reporting that supports Salesforce-native forecasting processes, categories, methodologies, and review cadences.
- Provide clear visibility into pipeline health, opportunity progression, forecast changes, and performance trends.
- Support forecast accuracy by identifying reporting gaps, investigating variances, and validating the underlying Salesforce data.
- Partner with Sales Operations and business leaders to improve forecast transparency, accountability, and confidence.
- Support reporting structures used by sellers, commercial leaders, Finance, and executive stakeholders.
Data Quality, Reconciliation, and Reporting Integrity
- Monitor Salesforce reporting data for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and reliability.
- Perform field-level, record-level, financial, and reporting reconciliation when discrepancies are identified.
- Investigate reporting defects, dashboard inconsistencies, duplicate data, integration-related issues, and forecast gaps.
- Partner with business and technical teams to identify root causes and coordinate remediation.
- Help ensure consistent definitions and calculations across Salesforce reports, dashboards, Finance reporting, and executive metrics.
- Establish controls and monitoring practices that increase stakeholder trust in Salesforce as the system of record.
Reporting Governance and Intake Management
- Establish and maintain reporting standards, definitions, documentation, and best practices.
- Manage or support a structured intake process for new reports, dashboards, analytics enhancements, and data-related requests.
- Evaluate requests based on business impact, urgency, scalability, and alignment with Salesforce reporting strategy.
- Reduce redundant reports and encourage the use of standardized, governed analytics assets.
- Maintain an operational backlog of reporting gaps, data-quality issues, forecasting improvements, and workflow simplification opportunities.
- Provide data-informed recommendations to Salesforce governance and prioritization discussions.
Cross-Functional Business Partnership
- Consult with Sales Leadership, Account Teams, Finance, Sales Operations, Product, Engineering, and Executive Leadership to understand reporting and analytics requirements.
- Translate business questions and operational needs into clear reporting requirements and scalable Salesforce solutions.
- Serve as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams to ensure that reporting accurately reflects commercial processes.
- Communicate findings, reporting risks, data limitations, and recommended actions in clear business language.
- Support cross-functional validation and prioritization of reporting enhancements and platform improvements.
Salesforce Adoption and Enablement
- Develop reports and dashboards that help users understand, monitor, and manage their business within Salesforce.
- Support user adoption by making information accessible, understandable, and actionable.
- Create documentation, reporting guidance, FAQs, and self-service resources.
- Contribute to Salesforce Office Hours, training sessions, knowledge resources, and other enablement activities as needed.
- Identify recurring user questions, reporting pain points, and adoption blockers, then recommend improvements.
- Promote consistent reporting and data-management practices across commercial teams.
Automation, Advanced Analytics, and AI Readiness
- Identify opportunities to automate recurring reports, dashboard processes, reconciliations, and manual data requests.
- Support the development of scalable reporting architecture for advanced analytics and emerging AI use cases.
- Improve the structure, consistency, and governance of Salesforce data used by analytical and automated solutions.
- Partner with technical teams to assess the reporting and data implications of platform changes, integrations, and new capabilities.
- Help position Sales Operations for continued growth in self-service analytics, automation, and data-informed decision-making.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
The following qualifications are recommended based on the stated responsibilities of the role:
- Five+ years’ experience developing and maintaining reports, dashboards, or analytical solutions in Salesforce or a comparable CRM platform.
- Demonstrated ability to translate business needs into reporting requirements and actionable insights.
- Five+ years’ experience working with pipeline, forecasting, revenue, opportunity, quote, or commercial-performance data.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to investigate discrepancies and validate data.
- Understanding of data-quality, reporting-governance, and metric-definition practices.
- Ability to communicate technical or analytical findings to nontechnical business stakeholders.
- Five+ years’ experience partnering across business and technical teams.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple reporting requests and priorities.
- Commitment to accurate, consistent, and well-documented analytical work.
