The role:
Canopius is seeking a highly motivated Developer to support the technology roadmap, delivering world class solutions to enable all areas of the business to achieve their strategic and business goals.
This exciting role is working within a small growing team of developers working in a flexible and iterative software delivery function – allowing us to respond quickly and innovatively to internal user requirements and therefore providing external market advantage.
This is a hybrid role, working 2-3 days per week from our Manchester office
Responsibilities will include:
- Core Development Responsibilities
- Designs, develops, and tests high-quality software solutions.
- Contributes across the software development lifecycle, from analysis and design through deployment and ongoing support.
- Collaborates within agile teams to deliver full-stack technical solutions using appropriate tools and technologies.
- Maintains and enhances existing applications, systems, and platforms.
- Develops and maintains application frameworks of moderate to high complexity.
- Manages assigned tasks and deliverables in line with project schedules and agreed parameters.
- Analyses requirements to identify integration and testability considerations.
- Undertakes other duties appropriate to the role as required.
Collaboration & Leadership
- Work with business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into scalable, maintainable solutions.
- Contribute to design reviews, architecture discussions, and governance forums.
- Share good practice with junior developers, particularly around maintainability, testing and release readiness.
Skills and Experience:
Required
- Solid understanding of JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3, with experience in component-based architecture, server-side rendering, and static site generation.
- Experience in modern front-end development, with hands-on experience using React, Next.js, and Tailwind CSS to build responsive, accessible, and performant web applications.
- Experience integrating with Python-based backend services, including RESTful APIs and asynchronous data flows.
- Familiarity with API consumption patterns, including RESTful services, authentication strategies, and error handling.
- Background in .NET and .NET Core using C#, particularly in building and integrating backend services and APIs.
- Good understanding of object-oriented programming principles, including SOLID and common design patterns.
- Experience with database design and development, particularly with Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL.
- Commitment to clean code, coding standards, and industry best practices, with a focus on maintainability, scalability, and performance.
Highly Desirable
- Relevant experience with Azure DevOps, Pipelines, continuous integration and deployment.
- Relevant experience with Azure cloud technologies.
- BSc degree in numerate discipline preferred (Maths, Computer Science, Natural Sciences, Engineering).
- Relevant experience of analysis, design and implementation of systems and solutions.
