Our Organization is an Australian technology service and repair business specialising in the diagnosis, repair, maintenance, installation and servicing of computers, laptops, mobile phones, tablets, gaming consoles, smart devices, peripherals and other modern ICT equipment.
We are seeking an experienced and technically capable Hardware Technician to join our team on a full-time basis. The successful applicant will be responsible for diagnosing hardware faults, repairing and replacing components, installing and configuring hardware, testing equipment and providing technical solutions across a range of ICT and smart devices.
About the Position
The Hardware Technician will work within our repair and technical services operation and will be responsible for the diagnosis, troubleshooting, repair, installation, configuration and testing of computer hardware, peripherals and modern smart/ICT devices.
The role requires a practical understanding of computer hardware and associated technologies, strong diagnostic skills and the ability to identify hardware faults and implement appropriate repair solutions.
Key Responsibilities
The successful applicant will be responsible for:
- Diagnosing hardware faults in desktop computers, laptops, notebooks, all-in-one computers and other ICT equipment.
- Diagnosing and repairing hardware faults in smartphones, tablets and other smart/ICT devices.
- Diagnosing and repairing gaming computers, gaming consoles and associated controllers and peripherals.
- Inspecting devices to identify physical, electrical, mechanical and component-level faults.
- Using appropriate diagnostic equipment, software and testing procedures to identify hardware faults.
- Troubleshooting computer hardware, peripherals and associated ICT equipment.
- Disassembling and reassembling computers, laptops, mobile devices, tablets, gaming consoles and other equipment safely and accurately.
- Repairing, replacing and installing defective hardware components and modules.
- Replacing components including screens/displays, batteries, storage devices, RAM, cooling components, ports, connectors and other hardware where appropriate.
- Installing and configuring computer hardware, peripherals and replacement components.
- Installing and configuring operating systems, device drivers, firmware and BIOS/UEFI where required.
- Performing computer hardware upgrades, including memory, storage and other compatible components.
- Testing charging, display, connectivity, storage, power and other hardware functions on supported devices.
- Diagnosing and repairing connectivity and hardware issues involving network equipment and peripherals.
- Installing, configuring and testing printers, scanners, monitors, docking stations and other computer peripherals.
- Conducting functional testing following repairs to ensure devices operate according to manufacturer specifications.
- Carrying out preventative maintenance, cleaning and servicing of computer and ICT hardware.
- Maintaining accurate repair records, job sheets, diagnostic results, serial numbers and component/parts information.
- Assessing repair requirements and providing technical information regarding hardware faults and recommended repair solutions.
- Liaising with suppliers and manufacturers regarding replacement parts, warranties and technical issues.
- Maintaining appropriate inventory and records of hardware components and replacement parts.
- Following workplace health and safety procedures and manufacturer specifications when handling ICT equipment.
- Keeping up to date with developments in computer hardware, smart devices, gaming technology, peripherals and related ICT equipment.
- Providing technical assistance and advice to customers regarding hardware faults, repairs, upgrades and appropriate hardware solutions.
