Welder

Flowserve · Pasadena, Texas US, United States

Flowserve is seeking a highly skilled and precision-driven Welder to join our customer-focused manufacturing and aftermarket repair operations. In this role, you will be an integral part of a collaborative team, working side-by-side with manual machinists, mechanics, and assemblers to solve challenging mechanical problems and maintain rigorous production schedules.

ㅤ

Operating in a fast-paced environment that demands sharp technical understanding, deep attention to detail, and a commitment to quality workmanship, you will interpret engineering blueprints, plan component layouts, and execute high-integrity welds across multiple processes (TIG, MIG, MAG, Stick). Your craftsmanship ensures that critical flow control and heavy industrial equipment are manufactured and restored to exact OEM tolerances for our energy and industrial infrastructure clients.

ㅤ

Key Responsibilities

- Set up, calibrate, and execute multi-position welds utilizing GTAW (TIG), GMAW (MIG/MAG), and SMAW (Stick) methods in strict accordance with welding procedure specifications (WPS) and engineering instructions.

- Plan, lay out, and configure complex weldments directly from engineering schematics, fabrication drawings, and manufacturer specification sheets using applied shop math and precision measuring tools.

- Prepare raw components and base metals safely prior to assembly, properly identifying materials and utilizing conventional shop machinery (such as toolroom lathes and beveling equipment) for weld preparation.

- Execute high-integrity fabrication welds on new equipment builds and perform precision structural buildup, hardfacing, and cladding repairs on worn or damaged industrial components.

- Verify finished fabrications against strict dimensional tolerances, welding inspection criteria, and quality assurance standards.

- Perform controlled post-weld heat treatment (PWHT) operations cleanly and accurately based on explicit thermal process documents and heat charts.

- Collaborate directly with assemblers, machinists, and service coordinators to troubleshoot equipment wear patterns and execute fast-track repair solutions.

- Record accurate, timely quality data, travel routers, and material heat logs into computer-based tracking systems (ERP) and manual traveler documentation.

- Maintain an active safety mindset by utilizing required PPE, participating in daily safety briefings, conducting routine equipment inspections, and exercising Stop Work Authority when safety risks arise.

ㅤ

Required Qualifications

- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

- Valid, current professional Welder Certification (or ability to recertify to ASME Section IX / AWS standards upon hire).

- 5 to 7+ years of professional welding experience in a mechanical manufacturing facility, heavy industrial repair center, or precision machine shop environment.

- Demonstrated multi-process mastery across TIG, MIG, MAG, and Stick welding on diverse industrial metallurgy (carbon steel, stainless steel, and specialty alloys).

- Solid blueprint reading capability, including standard welding symbols, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and shop layout planning.

- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, perform repetitive upper-body motions, maneuver heavy weldments, and lift up to 50 lbs safely.

- Dependable attendance record with the flexibility to work overtime and weekend shifts to support urgent turnaround and customer plant outage demands.

- Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.

ㅤ

Preferred Qualifications

- Prior welding and overlay experience centered on industrial valves, actuators, pumps, or related pressure-retaining flow control equipment.

- Active Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) certifications, particularly Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT) and Magnetic Particle Testing (MT).

- Direct practical experience operating post-weld heat treatment (PWHT) heating pads and temperature recording equipment.

- Working familiarity with enterprise resource planning systems (such as SAP) for labor tracking and job router confirmations.
