Senior IT Program Manager
About the Role
The Senior IT Program Manager leads strategic, multimillion-dollar enterprise programs with global scope and executive visibility. This role is for an accomplished program leader who can move seamlessly between strategy and execution, partnering with C-suite leaders while driving complex initiatives through measurable business outcomes.
As the single point of accountability, you will align business and technology leaders, build the integrated program strategy and plan, manage risks and dependencies, and drive cross-functional teams to deliver. Success requires executive presence, strong judgment, influence, and disciplined execution in a highly matrixed global environment.
What You’ll Do
- Lead complex, multimillion-dollar enterprise programs from strategy and planning through execution, go-live, operational transition, and benefits realization.
- Translate strategic objectives into integrated execution plans spanning multiple projects, workstreams, regions, and functions.
- Serve as the primary point of accountability for program performance, directly managing critical projects and coordinating other project managers as needed.
- Drive business, IT, Finance, Procurement, Change Management, vendors, and other teams toward common objectives, commitments, and measurable outcomes.
- Lead through influence, creating accountability across global teams that may not directly report to you.
- Build trusted relationships with C-suite executives, senior business leaders, IT leadership, regional leaders, and program sponsors.
- Lead executive governance and steering committees, clearly communicating program status, business impact, risks, recommendations, and decisions required.
- Facilitate complex decisions, challenge assumptions when appropriate, and align senior stakeholders with competing priorities.
- Proactively identify and resolve risks, dependencies, resource constraints, and execution gaps while maintaining accountability for scope, schedule, budget, quality, and milestones.
- Establish program governance, including executive reporting, change control, decision management, and appropriate escalation.
- Manage program financials, including budgets, forecasts, actuals, vendor costs, and future-year financial impacts.
- Partner with sponsors to define measurable KPIs, benefit owners, baselines, and targets and track benefits through implementation and adoption.
- Incorporate change management, adoption, and operational readiness into the overall program plan to support successful implementation and transition.
- Coach and mentor project managers and help strengthen program management practices across the organization.
What’s Required
- 10–15 years of relevant experience, including demonstrated success leading large, complex, global IT or technology-enabled business programs.
- Proven experience leading multimillion-dollar initiatives involving multiple projects, functions, regions, and executive stakeholders.
- Significant experience working directly with C-suite and senior executives, including presenting recommendations, facilitating decisions, communicating risk, and appropriately challenging direction.
- Demonstrated ability to move between strategy and hands-on execution, translating broad objectives and ambiguity into structured plans and measurable results.
- Proven ability to lead through influence and drive accountability within highly matrixed organizations.
- Strong program management expertise across integrated planning, governance, financial management, risk and dependency management, scope, resources, and change control.
- Experience connecting program investments and deliverables to measurable business benefits and KPIs.
- Strong executive communication, presentation, facilitation, negotiation, and stakeholder-management capabilities.
- Experience working across predictive, agile, and hybrid delivery environments.
- Working knowledge of enterprise technology, including applications, cloud, infrastructure, integration, data, security, and emerging AI capabilities.
- Ability to engage effectively with architects, engineers, and technology leaders, ask the right questions, and identify technical risks and dependencies without being the technical owner.
- Advanced experience with program and reporting tools such as Microsoft Project, OnePlan, Power BI, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Bachelor’s degree required; master’s or postgraduate degree preferred.
- PMP or equivalent certification required. PgMP, PMI-ACP, SAFe, Prosci, or similar program, agile, or change-management certification is a plus.
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity, managing competing priorities, and driving results in a fast-moving global environment.
