Zero Trust & Microsegmentation Engineer

About the Role:
Grade Level (for internal use):
12The Opportunity
If you're an engineer who sees enterprise security not as a restriction — but as architecture — this role was built for you.
At S&P Global, our Cybersecurity Engineering team is at the forefront of protecting one of the world's most trusted financial intelligence organizations. We're looking for a Micro-Segmentation Engineer who can bridge the gap between application complexity and security precision — someone who doesn't just understand how networks talk, but knows exactly when they shouldn't.
You'll work at the intersection of network engineering, cybersecurity, and application architecture, collaborating with teams across the enterprise to design and enforce Zero Trust principles at scale. This is a high-visibility, high-impact role where your decisions directly shape the security posture of critical global infrastructure.
What You'll Do
- Architect and enforce enterprise-wide micro-segmentation policies across applications, servers, workloads, and cloud environments — directly reducing the attack surface and eliminating unnecessary east-west traffic that creates risk exposure.
- Map and validate application communication flows end-to-end — analyzing dependencies, ports, protocols, and authentication requirements — translating them into precise firewall rules, ACLs, and Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) controls that protect without disrupting business-critical operations.
- Drive policy assurance by performing traffic-flow analysis using network telemetry, NetFlow, packet captures, and application dependency mapping — validating segmentation outcomes before and after every change.
- Lead remediation and incident response — identifying and closing overly permissive connectivity gaps, serving as an approver for network change requests, and acting as a key contributor during major incidents to minimize impact and accelerate resolution.
- Automate and scale segmentation policy deployment, compliance reporting, and validation — building a robust Micro-Segmentation framework that enforces quality, change management rigor, and long-term operational resilience.
- Partner across the business — supporting cloud adoption, data-center transformations, and modernization initiatives by developing the documentation standards, labeling strategies, and segmentation procedures that govern the enterprise's network security posture.
