Software Engineer (6-month contract with potential to extend)

About the role
We're looking for a hands-on Software Engineer to join our small internal technology team on an initial 6-month contract, with the potential to extend. You'll work closely with our Technology Delivery Lead to build, maintain and improve the systems that support TEM's customer products and business operations. This is a broad role rather than a narrow development position. You'll work across customer-facing platforms, APIs and integrations, internal systems, websites and automation initiatives, with the opportunity to see the direct impact of the solutions you build.
Key responsibilities
- Design, develop, test and deploy features, enhancements and fixes across TEM's technology environment.
- Deliver assigned roadmap work to agreed scope, quality and timing.
- Work across .NET applications, APIs, integrations, databases, websites and internal systems.
- Provide realistic estimates and raise blockers, dependencies and delivery risks early.
- Write clean, maintainable and well-tested code.
- Participate in code reviews and follow agreed engineering and architecture standards.
- Support production systems, investigate defects and assist with incident resolution.
- Maintain clear technical documentation and support knowledge sharing across the team.
- Identify and implement opportunities to automate manual processes and improve system integration.
- Support website analytics, tagging, conversion tracking and digital integrations where required.
About you
- 2–4 years' commercial software development experience
- Strong experience with .NET / .NET Core
- Experience with Azure
- Experience with SQL and/or Cosmos DB
- Experience building or supporting APIs and system integrations
- The ability to debug effectively and write unit and integration tests
- Working knowledge of front-end technologies
- An understanding of secure development practices
- Strong problem-solving skills and sound technical judgement
- The ability to manage your own work and communicate clearly when delivery is at risk
