Akamai's Compute Team focuses on simplifying, scaling, and delivering accessible, affordable cloud computing worldwide. This position is part of the Meerkat team, which specializes in CI/CD automation, hardware profiling, and performance validation. The Senior II Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) will enhance performance architecture, hardware benchmarking, and automated quality systems for distributed, large-scale environments.

This position involves performance engineering for Akamai Compute, emphasizing Meerkat's automation stack. Responsibilities include creating automated test suites, benchmarking workloads, and embedding performance gates into CI/CD pipelines. Design and maintain testing frameworks to ensure software quality and integration. Work with diverse teams to determine testing requirements, develop solutions, and enhance testing workflows for improved processes.
As a Senior II SDET on the Meerkat team, your responsibilities will include:
- Developing, maintaining, and optimizing scalable performance testing frameworks and automated benchmarking suites for distributed cloud computing platforms.
- Designing, implementing, and executing automated regression, load, stress, and performance tests to validate software, infrastructure, and newly onboarded server hardware.
- Establishing performance baselines, hardware validation standards, acceptance criteria, and performance thresholds for worldwide compute fleet implementations.
- Monitoring and validating SLAs, latency targets, system throughput, and infrastructure performance to identify bottlenecks while ensuring platform reliability.
- Building, scaling, and optimizing CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins to automate testing processes, including execution, regression, and performance gating.
- Collaborating with software developers, SREs, and datacenter teams to improve testing architectures, resolve performance issues, and enhance system quality.

- Demonstrate explicit knowledge and understanding of high level hardware and software performance objectives.
- Leverage data analysis techniques to process complex performance telemetry, build predictive capacity models, and publish actionable technical insights.
- Convert performance data in data science into actionable insights for practical implementation by the Compute team efficiently and accurately.
- Demonstrate expertise in Python and experience with Go, Linux/Bash scripting for backend automation, system tools, and test suites.
- Implement CI/CD and DevOps integration, utilizing Jenkins for pipeline scaling and advanced Git workflows expertise.
- Demonstrate extensive practical expertise with Linux-based operating systems. Experience using AI to accelerate development tasks.
