General Manager – Commercial Construction

Location: On-site Scranton, PA with regional travel

Our client is an established specialty construction organization entering an exciting stage of operational growth and modernization. They are seeking a hands-on General Manager to take meaningful ownership of a commercial operation, lead experienced project and field teams, and help shape how the business scales. This is an opportunity for a construction leader who enjoys being close to the work while also influencing profitability, people, processes, and long-term growth.

This Role Offers:

- Competitive base compensation, based on experience, plus bonus potential.

- A high-impact leadership position with significant autonomy and direct access to ownership.

- Medical insurance with employer contribution, along with dental and vision coverage.

- Paid time off and additional employee benefits.

- A hands-on environment where strong operational leadership can have an immediate and visible impact.

Focus:

- Own day-to-day performance across commercial projects, balancing estimating, project delivery, field execution, labor planning, and customer commitments.

- Guide project managers, estimators, office staff, and field leaders with clear expectations, practical coaching, and consistent accountability.

- Review scopes, estimates, pricing assumptions, schedules, and job economics to identify risk and protect project profitability.

- Coordinate manpower, subcontracted resources, and project priorities so teams have the support needed to execute safely and efficiently.

- Step into challenging project situations as a senior problem solver, including jobsite, scheduling, customer, and field execution issues.

- Build productive relationships with general contractors, customers, suppliers, and trade partners while representing the business with credibility.

- Strengthen communication, team engagement, operating discipline, and scalable processes as the organization continues to modernize and grow.

- Partner with ownership on financial performance, growth priorities, and broader operating decisions, with increasing P&L responsibility over time.

Skill Set:

- Senior leadership experience in commercial construction, commercial flooring, or another specialty contracting business with comparable project complexity.

- Practical knowledge of flooring, architectural finishes, or an adjacent trade, with enough technical depth to review estimates and help teams resolve field challenges.

- Demonstrated success leading project managers, estimators, field personnel, and operational teams in a hands-on environment.

- Ability to interpret project scope, cost drivers, schedules, labor needs, and profitability, with readiness to assume broader P&L ownership.

- Field credibility developed through meaningful jobsite exposure. Installation, superintendent, field leadership, or similar experience is strongly valued.

- Comfort operating autonomously, making sound decisions, communicating candidly, and asking for resources before workload or execution risk becomes unmanageable.

- Willingness to work on-site in Scranton and travel regularly to jobsites and the Harrisburg area, including occasional weekend or off-hours project needs.

- Familiarity with commercial estimating technology is valuable. Experience with flooring estimating platforms and cloud-based accounting tools is a plus.
