Systems Engineer (Back End)

LOCATION: Full-time onsite in Chantilly, VA

We’re looking for a Systems Engineer who can design and maintain scalable Python‑based back‑end systems, optimize Neo4j graph databases, and keep Kubernetes deployments running smoothly on AWS. In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with developers, guide junior engineers, strengthen CI/CD pipelines, and uphold rigorous security and compliance standards.

You must have the following required skills, certifications and demonstrated experience in and/or with:- Designing, developing, and maintaining scalable, secure, and highly available back-end systems using Python and Neo4J.

- Collaborating with the development team to identify and prioritize project requirements.

- Developing and maintaining Neo4j databases, ensuring data integrity, performance, and scalability. Writing efficient and scalable Python code, following best practices and coding standards.

- Collaborating with a team of developers to deliver high-quality software solutions.

- Providing technical guidance, mentorship, and supporting to junior developers.

- Working with Cl/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab Cl/CD).

- Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack).

- Knowledge of graph algorithms and data structures.

- Working with other programming languages (e.g., Java, C++).

- Managing and maintaining Kubernetes clusters on AWS, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security.

- Optimizing Kubernetes deployments for performance, cost, and reliability.

- Working in high-security environments, adhering to strict security protocols and compliance requirements.

- Implementing security best practices and ensuring the integrity of sensitive data.

- Developing and executing comprehensive testing strategies to ensure software quality and reliability.

- Participating in code reviews, ensuring adherence to coding standards and best practices.

- Troubleshooting and debugging complex issues, working closely with the development team and other stakeholders.

Other skills and demonstrated experiences that are highly desired but not mandatory to perform the work, include:- AWS Certified Developer -Associate or Professional.

- Kubernetes Certified Administrator (CKA) or Developer (CKAD).
