SpryPoint is modernizing how utilities serve their communities. As a high-growth software company, we're shaking up the status quo in the utility industry with the first and only truly cloud-native customer service and operations platform purpose-built for modern utilities.
Founded by industry veterans in 2011, we've grown from a profitable startup to a rapidly scaling company of 300+ employees serving 100+ utility clients across North America and the Caribbean. Our mission is simple: utility leaders should expect more from their technology providers.
Utilities face urgent demand to replace inefficient legacy systems while managing increasing operational complexity, and evolving customer expectations. With more than a decade of experience, and a track record of successful implementations spanning water, electric, and gas utilities, SpryPoint has built a reputation as a trusted and mission-critical partner to utilities across North America.
We deliver comprehensive solutions including SpryCIS, SpryEngage, SpryMobile, and SpryWallet that modernize the entire meter-to-cash process. What sets us apart? Our "updates, not upgrades" approach, user-centric design, and unwavering focus on customer success.
Backed by strategic investment from Norwest Venture Partners since 2023, and an exciting new investment partnership from Insight Partners announced in 2026, we're accelerating our growth while staying true to our core values: lead with kindness, vision with impact, radical honesty, bold disruption, keep it simple, and execute with excellence.
Join our award-winning team in transforming an essential industry that powers communities across the Americas.
š± The Role
Weāre looking for a Project Manager who thrives on leading complex, high-stakes delivery. Youāll own enterprise SaaS implementations for utility clients across North America and act as a strategic partner to their leadership teams from kickoff through go-live. This is a highly visible, client-facing role where youāll navigate competing priorities, help shape how we deliver, and keep large programs on track financially and operationally.
This is a Project Manager III role, our most senior project manager level. Youāll operate with a high degree of autonomy, and weāre looking for someone who can raise the bar for how we deliver, not just follow the playbook.
Utilities industry experience is a big plus, but weāre just as interested in the complexity and scale of the projects youāve led.
āļø This role involves periodic travel to client sites across the US and Canada. Youāll need to be able to travel freely between both countries.
šÆ What You'll Be Doing:
- Leading highly complex, cross-functional enterprise SaaS implementations (or a portfolio of them) using SpryPointās hybrid delivery methodology
- Acting as a trusted, strategic advisor to client executives, understanding their business goals and navigating complex stakeholder dynamics
- Owning project financials end to end, including budgets, revenue forecasting, effort estimation, and variance reporting to leadership
- Negotiating scope, budget changes, and high-stakes trade-offs with clients, and evaluating impact against schedules, contingencies, and acceptance criteria
- Anticipating risks early, building solid contingency plans, and managing strategic dependencies before they become problems
- Using influence without authority to keep client and internal leaders aligned to milestones and governance
- Partnering with Professional Services and Development leadership to balance workloads and allocate resources across a matrix organization with multiple concurrent projects
- Presenting to client steering committees and executive leadership, and owning the story of the project
- Helping shape our PMO standards, templates, and best practices, and supporting the growth of PM I and PM II teammates
š What You Bring:
- 7+ years of enterprise project management experience, including leading complex, high-risk implementations
- Utilities industry experience (electric, water, wastewater, gas, sanitation) is strongly preferred. Weāre flexible on the number of years and the industry itself if youāve led complex, multi-stakeholder enterprise software implementations with a similar scope (think CIS, billing, ERP, asset management, or field service)
- Strong financial acumen, with a track record of owning budgets, forecasting effort and revenue, and explaining variances with confidence
- Experience across waterfall and agile methodologies; hybrid delivery experience is a big plus
- Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence at every level, from project teams to the C-suite
- Strong critical thinking: youāre comfortable with ambiguity, can pull together conflicting inputs, and arenāt afraid to challenge assumptions
- A highly organized, detail-oriented approach with strong written and documentation skills
- Post-secondary degree or diploma, preferably in project management or business administration
- PMP or a comparable designation is strongly preferred
š What Sets You Apart:
- Hands-on experience with management information systems such as CIS, WAMS, MWM, or GIS
- Experience helping define or improve PMO processes, frameworks, or delivery standards
- A history of mentoring or coaching other project managers
- Experience with web-based portfolio or project management tools
š Interview Process
We know your time is valuable, so we've designed a process that's transparent, efficient, and - hopefully - genuinely enjoyable.
Here's what to expect:
šĀ Step 1: Recruiter Screening Conversation
A relaxed conversation to learn more about your background, your goals, and whatās drawing you to SpryPoint.
š©āš¼Ā Step 2: 45-Minute Interview with our Director of PMO
A deeper dive into your delivery approach, project management experience, and leadership style.
šĀ Step 3: Project-Based Take-Home Assignment
You'll receive a mid-project scenario for a fictional utility client. Your job is to diagnose what's gone wrong, assess the risks, complete a budget analysis, and build a recovery plan. Think of it as a bit of a scavenger hunt - we'll give you the pieces, and you get to figure out what happened. You'll then present your findings to the panel during the final interview.
š¤Ā Step 4: Final Interview & Presentation
You'll walk senior leadership through your approach and have a chance to talk through your thinking in a collaborative conversation. Depending on availability, the Chief of Staff and a Portfolio Director will be part of the final presentation.
š Step 5: References & Offer
We'll check your references to confirm the great things we've learned about you. If all goes well, we'll be thrilled to extend an offer and hopefully welcome you to the team!
Throughout the process, we're looking for clear communication, structured thinking, financial ownership, stakeholder management, and a genuine delivery mindset. Most importantly, we encourage you to bring your authentic self to every step. āØ
