This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior II Software Development Engineer in Test based in Canada.
This is an opportunity for an experienced software engineering professional to help build highly scalable, reliable, and resilient cloud-native platforms.
You will play a key role in automating the software development lifecycle, from testing and deployment through validation and production readiness.
The position sits within a collaborative platform engineering environment focused on service mesh, APIs, control-plane technologies, and other cloud-native services.
You will work closely with engineering teams to strengthen test strategies, identify risks, troubleshoot complex issues, and improve development workflows.
Your work will directly contribute to the correctness, performance, reliability, and safe deployment of critical platform services.

Accountabilities:

Partner with engineering teams to determine effective testing approaches for proposed code and platform changes.

Investigate deployment-related issues across different environments, identify root causes, and recommend practical solutions.

Design, develop, and maintain automated testing frameworks covering unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.

Create and maintain comprehensive test plans and test cases for platform technologies, including service mesh components, APIs, and control-plane services.

Identify relevant scenarios, edge cases, and potential failure modes to improve test coverage and platform reliability.

Collaborate with other engineering groups on integration testing and recommend improvements to testing infrastructure and environments.

Define and validate requirements for safe deployment, rollback, and release strategies.

Verify deployment requirements throughout the release process to help ensure reliable and controlled production changes.

Develop and maintain scripts that automate the deployment and validation of platform services.

Contribute to improvements in software development lifecycle practices, automation, reliability, and operational quality.
Requirements:

Approximately 8 years of relevant professional experience, along with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.

Strong expertise in cloud-native infrastructure, with a solid understanding of system internals, scalability, reliability, and performance.

Hands-on experience developing and testing products and workflows built on Kubernetes.

Experience with test automation, continuous integration, and deployment tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and SaltStack.

Strong Linux fundamentals, including experience with system performance analysis and tuning.

Strong Bash and general scripting skills for automation and troubleshooting.

Deep understanding of networking fundamentals, including VRF, HTTP, TLS, TCP/IP, DNS, and related protocols.

Good understanding of modern software development lifecycle practices and quality engineering methodologies.

Familiarity with service-level objectives, monitoring, alerting, and reliability-focused engineering practices.

Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities, with the ability to identify root causes and translate findings into effective technical solutions.

Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across engineering teams.
