Infrastructure Services is part of IS&T and the foundation of Apple's global network operations — managing data center equipment and systems to deliver compute, storage, and networking services for teams across Apple, including our Apple Retail Stores. From an individual store to a worldwide network, Infrastructure Services ensures the technology underneath everything works without question.
As a Retail Network Engineer, you will be part of a team focused on enabling experiences for Apple employees and our customers in Apple Stores all around the world. Our team works across Apple to ensure the network provides fast, reliable and secure connectivity powering critical functions such as point-of-sale, Genius Bar service, product demonstration, and more.
In this role you will take business and design requirements and turn them into fully featured network designs for Apple Retail stores. You will evaluate business needs, store design and layout, and network operational standards to develop a complete network solution. You will collaborate with business teams, real estate teams, design and development managers, project managers and network engineers across multiple disciplines to procure, deploy and configure the network.
A successful candidate will combine network expertise, troubleshooting skill, excellent judgment and strong communication of complex ideas to technical and leadership audiences.
The candidate will be responsible for growing and supporting Apple’s expanding retail network globally. They will need to excel in a fast-paced environment with the ability to multi-task and not only manage their own projects, but also be able to provide day to day operational support. This person must be a collaborative team player that will work across cross-functional groups and have the ability and willingness to learn new technologies, deepen expertise and have a sound business approach for supporting our global footprint.
We are looking for a Network Engineer to participate in projects and perform day to day support activities including, but not limited to:
Design network solutions to meet evolving business needs
Deploy WAN, wired LAN and Wi-Fi infrastructure for new and existing Retail Store locations
Diagnose and identify root causes of network issues
Build and maintain automation playbooks and scripts to support constant and scalable infrastructure deployment
Maintain consistency (software, configuration, security) across the global fleet
Schedule and execute change requests
Coordinate work with peers and vendors to deploy and troubleshoot infrastructure
Minimum Qualifications
- 3+ years of industry experience in the field of networking
- Strong understanding of IPv6 and IPv4 protocols
- Experience with more than one of the following:
- BGP and Internet routing policy
- Cisco IOS-XE, JUNOS, Arista EOS, FortiOS, Aruba AOS
- Juniper SRX, Forinet Firewalls
- Cisco Catalyst, Arista EOS switching platforms
- SD-WAN, IPSEc VPN technologies
- Cisco Catalyst, Aruba AOS Wi-Fi
- Experience testing and provisioning of WAN circuits (Metro Ethernet, Dark Fiber, Transit)
- Experience with standard linux utilities (grep, sed, awk, traceroute, tcpdump etc)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience automating workflows using Ansible, Python or other infrastructure-as-code tools
- Bachelors in Computer Science, Network Engineering, Information Systems or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Experience leveraging GenAI tools to improve capability or efficiency managing and deploying network infrastructure
- Industry certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, CWNE, JNCIP are beneficial but not required
- Strong written and oral communication skills
