Product Manager – Core Security, Cloud WAF

Imperva | Cloud Application Delivery & Security

Imperva is a leading cybersecurity provider delivering best-in-class solutions to protect data and applications across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments. Our customers, from innovative startups to Fortune 500 enterprises, trust us to secure their digital experiences at scale.

The Role

We are looking for a Senior Product Manager to shape the next generation of Imperva's Cloud WAF security capabilities.

In this high-impact role, you will own the product strategy, roadmap, and evolution of the core security capabilities protecting enterprise applications worldwide, including attack detection, security policies, enforcement, and security visibility.

You will work at the intersection of cybersecurity research, advanced engineering, and customer-facing product innovation, driving new capabilities while modernizing a mature, large-scale security platform.

This is a role for a product leader who thrives on complex challenges: balancing innovation and competitive differentiation with technical debt, reliability, and scalability, while making difficult prioritization decisions that maximize customer and business impact.

You will have significant autonomy and influence over the future of one of Imperva's most critical product areas.

Your Impact

As the Product Manager for Core Security Capabilities, you will drive foundational capabilities that directly power our cloud security platform:

·       Shape the future of WAF security: Define the vision and roadmap for next-generation application security, including AI-driven detection, emerging threats, and innovative protection capabilities.

·       Drive security effectiveness: Evolve attack detection, rule engines, security policies, enforcement mechanisms, and L7 DDoS mitigation to deliver effective, adaptable protection.

·       Turn security data into customer value: Advance security analytics, visibility, and actionable insights, helping customers understand threats, evaluate protection effectiveness, and make informed decisions.

·       Accelerate innovation: Identify competitive gaps, emerging market opportunities, and customer needs, translating them into differentiated capabilities delivered faster.

·       Navigate complex trade-offs: Balance new security capabilities, platform modernization, technical debt, performance, and reliability to maximize long-term product value.

Responsibilities

·       Own the product vision, strategy, roadmap, and prioritization for Imperva's core Cloud WAF security capabilities.

·       Proactively research market trends, competitive offerings, emerging threats, and customer challenges to identify opportunities for product differentiation.

·       Lead product discovery, define requirements, and translate complex security and technical challenges into clear, actionable product initiatives.

·       Partner closely with Security Research to evolve detection and mitigation capabilities, and with Engineering to shape technically feasible, scalable solutions.

·       Drive the evolution of WAF security policies, custom rules, enforcement mechanisms, L7 DDoS protection, and security analytics.

·       Collaborate with architects and engineering leaders on technical trade-offs, scope optimization, platform modernization, and architectural evolution.

·       Prioritize investments across innovation, competitive gaps, customer needs, technical debt, and reliability constraints.

·       Define measurable product outcomes and success metrics, including security effectiveness, customer adoption, usability, and operational performance.

·       Engage directly with customers, field teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to understand real-world security challenges and validate product direction.

·       Lead initiatives independently from opportunity identification through delivery, adoption, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

·       3+ years of Product Management experience in technical products, cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, networking, or complex software platforms. Equivalent product ownership experience in advanced military technology or cybersecurity environments will also be considered.

·       Strong technical background: Deep understanding of software systems, cloud architecture, APIs, HTTP/S, networking fundamentals, and distributed systems. Ability to engage in detailed technical discussions and challenge engineering proposals.

·       Proven product ownership: Demonstrated ability to independently lead product strategy, discovery, prioritization, roadmaps, and execution, with measurable outcomes.

·       Strategic and analytical thinking: Ability to identify market opportunities, evaluate alternatives, make complex trade-offs, and translate ambiguous problems into clear product direction.

·       Strong product mindset: Customer-oriented, curious, proactive, and capable of challenging assumptions rather than simply executing requirements.

·       Cross-functional leadership: Proven ability to influence engineering teams, technical experts, and business stakeholders without direct authority.

·       Excellent communication skills: Ability to articulate complex technical concepts, build alignment, and drive decisions across organizational boundaries.

Preferred Qualifications (Advantage)

·       Product management experience in cybersecurity, particularly WAF, API Security, DDoS protection, or application security.

·       Experience managing products operating at high scale, with demanding performance, availability, or latency requirements.

·       Previous hands-on experience in software development, cybersecurity research, system architecture, or advanced technical roles.

·       Experience developing AI-driven products or applying AI/ML to security, detection, or analytics.
