ABOUT THE ROLE
A California employment law practice is seeking a senior attorney to defend employers in complex litigation and provide practical workplace counseling. You will manage matters independently, mentor junior associates, and contribute to client relationships and practice growth.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Defend employers in FEHA and Title VII claims, wage and hour disputes, and PAGA and other class actions in state and federal courts.
- Manage cases from inception through resolution, including discovery, motions, and appearances before employment agencies.
- Advise clients on workforce management, HR policies, and California employment law compliance.
- Develop client relationships and business, while supporting existing clients.
- Lead case strategy and supervise and mentor junior associates.
- Handle employment-related trade secret and unfair competition matters.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- At least 8 years of post-JD experience defending employers in California employment litigation, including FEHA, PAGA, wage and hour, and class action matters.
- Active California Bar license and a JD from an ABA-accredited law school.
- Employer-side defense practice experience that includes litigation and HR counseling.
- Experience appearing before the EEOC, California Civil Rights Department, or California Labor Commissioner.
- Experience handling trade secret and unfair competition litigation.
- Strong client relationship, business development, and client origination skills, with at least a partial portable book of business.
- Experience at a reputable regional firm or employment boutique is preferred.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Annual base salary: $225,000 to $275,000. Visa sponsorship is not available.
LOCATION
On-site in the San Jose, San Mateo, or Pleasanton area of California. Relocation to the Silicon Valley, Tri-Valley, or Peninsula area is expected if needed.
