Job Summary:
The Senior Systems Engineer is an expert in Microsoft 365 (M365) solutions, supporting platform modernization, technical consultation, and user training. The Engineer will assess evolving business needs, partner with functional and technical stakeholders, and recommend Microsoft-based solutions to improve workflows and business processes. This role is responsible for guiding platform adoption and governance, leading training sessions, and providing subject matter expertise to project teams. The Engineer will also support knowledge sharing, mentor team members, and communicate actionable recommendations to support continuous improvement. The Engineer is highly motivated, organized, and able to manage work independently while collaborating with the Platform Engineering team.
Essential Responsibilities:
· Consult independently with technical and business stakeholders to assess needs, recommend M365 solutions, and explain their impact on workflows and business processes.
· Serve as a technical subject matter expert for SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, Exchange, Power Apps, Purview, and related M365 applications; this role excludes Office desktop applications.
· Prepare and deliver regularly scheduled training, small-group sessions, and large-group workshops to support effective use and adoption of M365 applications.
· Evaluate upcoming platform changes, feature updates, and new capabilities; guide implementation and communicate their impact to stakeholders.
· Develop Power Apps solutions and establish SharePoint governance practices to support consistent and effective platform use.
· Champion ongoing platform modernization and help stakeholders adapt to continuous changes in M365 products and applications.
· Support project teams with technical guidance and assist with specialized support requests related to consultations, projects, VIP needs, or urgent issues.
· Create and maintain a document library of supported solutions, lead knowledge transfers, and mentor junior team members.
· Participate in team meetings and activities, support adoption of DevOps principles, and recommend meaningful team metrics.
· Build relationships across the broader IT community and help establish a community of practice for M365 applications.
· Coordinate with the Learning Management System team to provide technical training and support.
· Provide weekly updates on accomplishments, blockers, and issues; proactively identify and escalate potential concerns.

Qualifications & Skills:
Required
· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field from a four-year college or university
· 5-7 years of experience with M365 applications and products, including SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams (including Voice and Rooms), and Exchange
· PowerShell scripting experience, including code reviews and use of code repositories
· Experience leading consultations with diverse stakeholders, including technical and business/program staff
· Experience preparing, delivering, and leading training sessions
· Ability to manage, track, and complete tasks independently
· Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical solutions and their business impact to varied audiences
· Ability to complete an FBI background check for CJIS clearance
· Ability to complete required HIPAA compliance training
Preferred
· Experience preparing and delivering training on M365 products
· Experience with Microsoft’s Government Community Cloud (GCC) licensing suite
· Experience with Power Apps
