ABOUT THE ROLE
Join an early-stage AI company as its first engineering hire, building reinforcement learning environments from real-world voice and enterprise data, as well as production AI agents for enterprise customers. You will work directly with the founders on technical direction and help lead the engineering function as it grows.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Build high-quality reinforcement learning environments using voice and enterprise datasets.
- Develop and deploy AI agents for enterprise customers.
- Partner with company leadership on technical direction and the product roadmap.
- Lead the engineering team as it grows, shipping quickly while maintaining quality.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Three to seven years of engineering experience and strong reinforcement learning fundamentals.
- Hands-on experience building RL environments in an AI or human data setting.
- Experience building and deploying AI agents in production.
- Daily use of AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or comparable tools as part of production work.
- Full-stack experience with TypeScript and AWS, or mobile development experience with iOS, Swift, or React Native, is helpful.
- Startup experience and a strong record of shipping are beneficial.
- Authorization to work without visa sponsorship is required.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Base salary is $125,000 to $200,000 annually. OTE (on-target earnings, base plus variable) is $225,000 to $400,000, with variable compensation tied to company profits. Visa sponsorship is not available.
LOCATION
This is a fully on-site role in San Francisco, California, with a 5.5-day workweek.
