Trainee, Test Systems & Data

Bluefors · Helsinki, Finland

We are hiring two trainees to work with the systems and data behind product testing in manufacturing. As part of our Test Systems & Data team, you will see how measurement technology, test automation, software development, and data engineering come together in practice. One trainee may focus mainly on Manufacturing Test Systems and the other on Manufacturing Data, but both may work across the two areas. The focus is flexible, and tasks will be selected based on each candidate’s background and interests and the team’s current needs. Interested? Keep reading!

Depending on your background and interests, you may work in one or both focus areas. In Manufacturing Test Systems, you could help develop and improve the systems used to test products, including automation, software, and scripts. You may also work with measurement equipment and instrument interfaces, support test execution, validation, and data collection, troubleshoot existing systems, and maintain technical documentation. In Manufacturing Data, you could process, analyze, and visualize manufacturing and test data. This may involve databases and SQL, data pipelines, APIs and integrations, data quality and traceability, or automated reports, dashboards, and analytics. You will complete practical engineering and development tasks with guidance from experienced engineers, and you will not be expected to cover every topic listed.

These positions suit university students in automation, electrical or electronics engineering, measurement technology, computer science, software engineering, data engineering, industrial engineering with relevant technical or data studies, or another related field. Some programming experience from studies, projects, personal projects, thesis work, or previous employment will help you get started. We are looking for systematic problem-solvers who enjoy working hands-on with technical systems, data, or both. You should be ready to document your work clearly, learn unfamiliar tools and technologies, and communicate and work in English.

Previous experience in any of these areas can give you a useful starting point, but it is not required: programming with Python or another language; SQL, databases, data pipelines, APIs, or integrations; Power BI or another reporting tool; electrical measurement equipment, electronics, software-controlled instruments, interfaces, or test automation; Git or GitLab; and technical documentation. You do not need experience in every area listed. We are interested in your technical foundation, interests, and ability to learn.

You will work on practical engineering and development tasks in a technical manufacturing environment, with support from experienced engineers. Through the work, you can learn how test systems are developed and maintained, how manufacturing data is handled and used, and how engineers document, test, and improve technical solutions. Your experience may center on measurement technology, automation, software, manufacturing data, or a combination of these areas.

Main responsibilities:

- The actual responsibilities will depend on each trainee’s focus area, background, and the team’s current needs.

- Troubleshoot technical issues and maintain clear technical documentation

- Complete assigned development and testing tasks with guidance from experienced engineers

What we expect from you

- Ongoing studies in a relevant technical field

- Some programming experience gained through studies, projects, personal projects, thesis work, or previous employment

- Problem-solving skills and a systematic approach to work

- Willingness to work hands-on with technical systems, data, or both

- Ability to document work and results clearly

- Willingness to learn unfamiliar tools and technologies

- Excellent command of English, both written and spoken

We also appreciate

- Experience with Python or another relevant programming language

- Experience with SQL, databases, data pipelines, APIs, or integrations

- Experience with Power BI or another visualization and reporting tool

- Familiarity with electrical measurement equipment, electronics, instrument interfaces, or test automation

- Familiarity with Git, GitLab, or another version-control system

- Experience producing clear technical documentation

- Note, that these are preferred qualifications, not mandatory requirements.

There are two trainee positions, and the work will start as soon as possible. The contracts are fixed-term and will run through 2027. Initially, the trainees will work approximately three days per week on an hourly basis. From May through September, the positions will be full-time. The work will be primarily on-site, but some remote work may be possible once the person can work independently.

Please apply as soon as possible, on November 12, 2026, at the latest through our recruitment system at BLUEFORS.COM. We will review applications on an ongoing basis, and the position will be filled as soon as a suitable candidate is found.
