ABOUT THE ROLE
Join an applied AI research team focused on developing high-quality training data that captures how experts reason. In this role, you will bring legal expertise and strong project ownership to work that helps advance AI systems.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Work with leading AI research teams to develop datasets that reflect expert legal reasoning and support commercial projects.
- Manage teams of subject-matter experts across legal and other professional domains.
- Partner with internal teams on AI research and data initiatives.
- Lead cross-functional projects and support operational priorities as an early team member.
- Own client relationships and project delivery from initial planning through completion.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- At least 3 years of substantive legal experience in a law firm, in-house role, government or regulatory body, legal technology company, or related consulting environment.
- A JD or equivalent qualification, with experience drafting, negotiating, litigating, or providing legal advice.
- Strong legal reasoning and research skills, including the ability to distinguish rigorous analysis from superficial answers.
- Excellent communication and client management skills, with the ability to lead projects end to end.
- Experience in a demanding environment such as legal practice, consulting, investment banking, or a fast-paced startup.
- An undergraduate degree from a US, Canadian, or European university, or equivalent standout experience.
- Comfort with an intensive work schedule, including occasional extended hours.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Base salary: $150,000 to $200,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is available.
LOCATION
On-site in San Francisco, California. The role includes work Monday through Friday and may include a half-day or remote work on Sundays.
