Division IT Manager

itw · Sidcup, Edgington Way, United Kingdom

Job Description:

Reports to

Division Controller, with functional alignment to the Segment IT Director (Specialty Products)

Team

Global Infrastructure, IT Operations & Cyber Manager; Data & Business Applications Lead; IT staff in Slovenia and China; MSPs in North America, UK, Italy, Bulgaria and New Zealand

About the role

ITW Appliance is a global manufacturing division of Illinois Tool Works, with 11 sites in 8 countries across Europe, North America, Asia and New Zealand. We are looking for a leader who can turn our data into a real business advantage and lead a lean, international IT organization.

We have already built a Microsoft Fabric data lake using a medallion architecture, with Power BI on top. Your first priority is to own this platform: direct and challenge its design, scale it across the business, and make sure the capability doesn't depend on any single person. You will also lead our ERP standardization on Acumatica.

A dedicated Infrastructure, Operations & Cyber Manager runs day-to-day infrastructure, cybersecurity and our MSPs, and reports to you. Your role there is to govern, prioritize and challenge, not to run it.

What you will own (in priority order)

1. Data platform and analytics

- Own the divisional data platform (Microsoft Fabric lakehouse, medallion layers, Power BI semantic models) and its roadmap.

- Set data architecture principles, data governance, data quality and a standard KPI framework across all sites.

- Direct pipelines and integrations built with Python, SQL and APIs, with enough technical depth to review and challenge design decisions.

- Deliver business use cases: demand forecasting (including machine learning), supply chain and purchasing visibility, and financial and operational KPIs.

- Coach and grow data talent, hire where needed, and keep the platform documented so there is a credible succession plan.

2. ERP and business applications

- Lead the Acumatica rollout and the retirement of legacy ERPs across sites, working with implementation partners.

- Make the ERP the single source of truth for master data and the main data source for the data platform.

3. IT leadership and governance

- Own the IT roadmap, budget and vendor strategy, using ITW's 80/20 approach to focus on what drives growth.

- Govern infrastructure, cyber and MSP performance through the Infrastructure & Cyber Manager, using clear SLAs.

- Lead a small team spread across Europe and Asia, with clear roles and accountability.

What we need from you

Must have

- You have personally designed and delivered a modern data platform (Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse, Databricks, Snowflake or similar) with Power BI or an equivalent tool, not only sponsored one.

- Working knowledge of SQL and Python, and of API-based integration.

- Experience integrating ERP data in a manufacturing or industrial company (any mid-market or enterprise ERP, such as Acumatica, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, QAD or Oracle NetSuite).

- Experience leading people, including data specialists, and working directly with business leaders in operations, supply chain and finance.

- Around 10 years in data, BI or IT roles, with at least 5 in a leadership position.

- Fluent English.

Nice to have

- Acumatica or another mid-market cloud ERP.

- Multi-site or international manufacturing experience.

- Microsoft Fabric certifications (DP-600 or DP-700) or data management certification (DAMA CDMP).

- Machine learning for forecasting or planning.

This role is probably not for you if

- Your background is mainly infrastructure, cybersecurity, OT or IT operations.

- You have led data strategy only at sponsor level, without hands-on delivery.

- You are a developer or engineer who doesn't want to lead people and budgets.

What success looks like in the first 12 months

- The Fabric platform is documented and supported by more than one person, with a clear roadmap.

- Standard KPIs are used by division leadership and by all major sites.

- At least one business use case (forecasting or supply chain visibility) is live and delivering value.

- The Acumatica rollout plan is on track and the next sites are moving forward.

- IT roles, SLAs and MSP performance are clear and measured.

Why join us

You will have real ownership and visible impact in a lean division, with the backing of a global industrial group and a Segment IT network of peers across many manufacturing businesses. You will work with modern Microsoft data technology and see the results of your work directly in our plants.
