Role Summary:

The Engineer II, ADAS Software Integration is an early-career individual contributor within the ADAS business unit responsible for executing defined software integration activities with growing independence. The role performs targeted C/C++ and configuration changes, investigates build, compile, runtime, and deployment issues, supports software packaging and vehicle/bench flashing, and validates software changes across local, CI, bench, and vehicle environments. The Engineer II works with local ADAS integration teams and Germany-based engineering teams to reproduce issues, analyze logs and traces, implement routine fixes, document technical findings, and escalate higher-complexity issues when needed. The position remains hands-on and execution-focused while taking greater ownership for the quality, reproducibility, and completion of assigned integration work.

Role Responsibilities:

Embedded Software Support

- Implement small to moderately scoped C/C++ changes in low-level software, middleware, or application software within assigned components.

- Reproduce, investigate, and resolve routine compile, link, runtime, or integration issues using defined steps, available logs, traces, and established debugging methods.

- Prepare and update code changes for review using established branching, code-review, and documentation

- Validate approved software changes on local, CI, bench, or vehicle targets and document results.

Build, Compile & Integration Issue Triage

- Execute build, compile, and integration workflows and independently capture failures, logs, and environment

- Triage dependency, configuration, toolchain, and interface issues affecting ADAS software integration and resolve routine issues within the assigned scope.

- Coordinate findings and next steps with software, integration, test, and release teams; escalate issues that require broader system or architectural decisions.

- Document issue symptoms, reproduction steps, fix attempts, and validation evidence.

Deployment Tooling, Automation & Vehicle Flashing Support

- Execute deployment packaging, release-candidate preparation, and delivery of ADAS software to bench and vehicle targets.

- Maintain repeatable local, CI, or cloud deployment workflows and identify configuration or environment issues that affect reproducibility.

- Develop or update simple scripts and configuration files that improve build, deployment, or flashing workflows.

- Perform routine vehicle and bench flashing activities, including basic troubleshooting, recovery, and configuration checks; escalating complex failures when needed.

Bench, Vehicle Validation & Diagnostics Support

- Execute ADAS bench and vehicle validation activities by enabling software updates, diagnostic access, logging, and trace capture.

- Use diagnostic and communication tools across CAN, CAN-FD, LIN, Ethernet, UDS, DoIP, or related technologies to support issue analysis.

- Perform system configuration, commissioning, and readiness checks for benches, lab systems, and vehicles using established procedures.

- Confirm that assigned software changes meet defined validation criteria and are ready for downstream testing or release activities.

Documentation & Continuous Improvement

- Create and maintain technical documentation such as build notes, deployment steps, troubleshooting notes, root-cause summaries, trace summaries, and validation results.

- Identify and implement practical improvements that increase reproducibility, traceability, and efficiency of integration workflows.

- Share technical learnings with team members and incorporate feedback from code reviews, test reviews, and integration events.

General Skills:

- Thoughtful Problem Solver & Communicator: Applies analytical thinking, asks clarifying questions, and communicates status, risks, and findings clearly.

- Independent & Accountable: Owns assigned engineering tasks from execution through validation and documentation, seeking guidance when scope or risk exceeds established boundaries.

- Collaborative Team Member: Works effectively with software, integration, test, and release teams across locations and time zones.

- Learning Agility: Builds domain knowledge quickly and applies established engineering practices, tools, and processes.

- Attention to Detail: Works effectively in evolving technical environments, prioritizes assigned work, and adjusts approach as new information becomes available.

- Drives Diversity: Supports an inclusive team environment where different perspectives are respected.

Required Specialized Skills:

- Proficiency in C/C++ programming skills with the ability to read, modify, build, and test code under supervision.

- Working knowledge of embedded software concepts, Linux command-line workflows, RTOS concepts, or middleware/application software.

- Ability to reproduce, analyze, and resolve routine software builds, compile, deployment, runtime, or integration issues using logs, traces, build output, and issue reports.

- Working knowledge of Git or similar version-control workflows, including branching, code review, and changing documentation practices.

- Ability to make targeted software or configuration changes and validate results in local, CI, bench, or vehicle environments.

- Experience supporting software packaging, deployment, flashing, provisioning, or recovery workflows for embedded targets.

- Working knowledge of vehicle, bench, ECU, or lab-based software integration concepts and the ability to perform configuration, commissioning, and readiness.

- Ability to work safely in lab, bench, and vehicle environments and follow established engineering and validation procedures.

Desired Skills:

- Experience with ADAS, automated driving, robotics, embedded Linux, or automotive software integration.

- Working knowledge of automotive communication or diagnostic protocols such as CAN, CAN-FD, LIN, Ethernet, UDS, or DoIP.

- Experience with Python, Bash, YAML, or other scripting for build, test, or integration automation.

- Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Artifactory, or similar.

- Experience with vehicle flashing, provisioning, recovery, or release-candidate installation workflows.

- Familiarity with CANalyzer, CANoe, adb logcat, Putty, or similar diagnostic and logging tools.

- Familiarity with automotive safety and cybersecurity expectations such as ISO 26262 or ISO/SAE 21434.

Workplace Flexibility:

- Frequent early morning calls, virtual meetings, or workshops may be required to overlap with German business hours.

- Occasional international and do
