Project Coordinator - Asset & Quality Solutions (Energy)
Emit Cx_2001 · United Kingdom
What if you could do the kind of work the world needs?
At WSP, you can access our global scale, contribute to landmark projects and connect with the brightest minds in your field to do the best work of your life. You can embrace your curiosity in a culture that celebrates new ideas and diverse perspectives. You can experience a world of opportunity and the chance to shape a career as unique as you.
A little more about your role...
We are looking for an organised, proactive and motivated Project Coordinator to join our Asset & Quality Solutions (AQS) team.
AQS supports clients across the energy, power and infrastructure sectors, providing specialist engineering, asset management, quality surveillance and technical support across a diverse portfolio of projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to develop a career in project management and project delivery while working alongside experienced engineers, project managers and technical specialists.
You will play an important role in helping our projects run effectively, supporting everything from project mobilisation and resource coordination through to commercial monitoring, reporting and project close-out.
Importantly, we see this role as having genuine development potential. For the right person, there will be opportunities to take on greater project responsibility over time and to work towards recognised project management development, including the potential to pursue the APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ) as part of their longer-term career progression.
Working closely with the AQS leadership and project teams, you will support the effective coordination and delivery of our projects. Responsibilities are likely to include:
- Supporting Project Managers with day-to-day project coordination and administration.
- Helping mobilise engineers and technical specialists onto projects and client sites.
- Coordinating project documentation, records, actions and deliverables.
- Supporting resource planning across multiple projects and assignments.
- Assisting with project financial monitoring, forecasting, invoicing and reporting.
- Tracking project actions, milestones and key delivery dates.
- Supporting preparation of project reports, meeting packs and client documentation.
- Liaising with colleagues across AQS and the wider business to help resolve project issues.
- Helping maintain effective communication between project teams, clients and stakeholders.
- Supporting continuous improvement in the way AQS plans, manages and delivers its projects.
- Gradually taking ownership of smaller projects or work packages as your experience and confidence develop.
What we will be looking for you to demonstrate...
You don't necessarily need to arrive as an experienced Project Manager. We are equally interested in someone who has the right attitude, organisation and ambition to develop.
You'll ideally bring:
- Strong organisational and coordination skills.
- Good attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Confident communication skills and the ability to build relationships with different stakeholders.
- A proactive approach and willingness to take ownership.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Teams.
- An interest in project management, engineering, energy or infrastructure.
- Commercial awareness, or an interest in developing your understanding of project financial performance.
- A willingness to learn and develop professionally.
Previous experience in project coordination, project support, engineering, consultancy or a technical environment would be advantageous, but potential, attitude and willingness to develop are equally important.
Your development
We want this position to provide a pathway, not simply a job.
You will work alongside experienced project and technical professionals, gaining practical exposure to the full project lifecycle. As your capability develops, we would look to give you increasing responsibility for project controls, commercial management, client interaction and ultimately the management of appropriate projects or work packages.
There will also be opportunities to build your formal project management capability, with the potential to work towards APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ) accreditation, alongside practical experience within AQS.
Why join AQS?
AQS is a technically diverse team working across complex engineering environments. Our people may be supporting major outages, equipment manufacture, quality surveillance, asset management or specialist engineering assignments in the UK and internationally.
For a Project Coordinator, that variety provides a great environment in which to learn. You'll gain visibility of how technical projects are developed, mobilised and delivered, while becoming an increasingly important part of the team behind that delivery.
We're looking for someone who wants to grow with AQS, build a career in project delivery and, over time, develop into a capable and confident project management professional.
