Manager Loss Prevention

Scope of Responsibility
The Supervisor, Loss Prevention leads day-to-day loss prevention operations for a single facility or shift, executing procedures and priorities set by the Manager. This role directly supervises Loss Prevention Coordinators and officers, serves as the primary point of contact for incident response during assigned hours, and ensures consistent floor-level execution of investigation, inventory control, and security standards.
Essential Duties
Asset Protection & Theft Prevention
• Participate in asset identification, tagging, numbering, and tracking standards to provide clear accountability for assets throughout their lifecycle.
• Conduct periodic physical inventories and asset verification audits across facilities, reconciling physical assets to financial and operational records.
• Identify and investigate missing, unaccounted-for, damaged, misappropriated, or improperly utilized Company assets and coordinate corrective action.
• Implement controls to reduce asset loss, theft, unauthorized use, damage, and premature replacement.
• Ensure and oversee accountability for employees, departments, and locations responsible for Company assets, including appropriate sign-out, assignment, and transfer procedures.
• Assist in reconciling physical asset inventories with the Company's fixed asset register and ensure discrepancies are identified and resolved.
• Work collaboratively to ensure minimum security and physical protection requirements for high-value and high-risk assets, including access controls, surveillance, storage, identification, and other loss-prevention measures.
• Conduct and document investigations into theft, unauthorized material removal, and suspicious activity at the facility.
• Respond to and manage security incidents during assigned shift.
• Escalate complex or high-risk cases to the Manager.
• Maintain accurate, complete case files in accordance with company protocol.
Inventory & Material Control
• Perform cycle counts, audits, and variance checks per the facility schedule.
• Document and report inventory discrepancies to the Manager.
• Enforce chain-of-custody procedures during material handling, shipping, and receiving.
• Support implementation of corrective actions at the production floor level.
Security Systems & Facility Controls
• Monitor CCTV, access control, and alarm systems during assigned shift.
• Report equipment malfunctions or coverage gaps to the Manager.
• Ensure proper use of security equipment and procedures by facility staff.
• Conduct routine facility security checks, including fencing, lighting, and access points
Policy, Training & Compliance
• Enforce loss prevention policies and procedures on the production floor.
• Deliver on-the-job training and reinforce theft and fraud awareness with employees.
• Ensure shift-level compliance with safety and security standards.
• Support HR and Safety with day-to-day policy enforcement.
Collaboration & Reporting
• Communicate daily or shift activity, incidents, and risks to the Manager.
• Coordinate with Operations supervisors on floor-level security and inventory issues.
• Maintain shift logs and incident reports.
• Provide input on process improvements based on floor-level observations.
Position Requirements
Education: High school diploma or GED required; associate's degree preferred
Experience:
• 3-5 years in loss prevention, security, or a related field.
• Prior experience in a lead, shift-lead, or informal supervisory capacity preferred.
Skills & Abilities:
• Solid investigative fundamentals and documentation skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to professionally de-escalate and manage confrontational situations.
• Working knowledge of CCTV and access control system operation.
• Clear verbal and written communication.
• Ability to train and coach entry-level staff.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods on the production floor and in yard/lot areas.
• Ability to lift up to 25-50 lbs. as needed for inventory audits or material inspections.
• May require rotating shifts, including nights and weekends.
