ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY
SUMMARY: Under general direction of and in conjunction with the General Manager, the Assistant General Manager is responsible for the management of the overall hotel operations, including all hotel-related food and beverage outlets, guest rooms, and facilities.
SOME OF THE THINGS THAT YOU WILL GET TO DO (this is only a small sampling of work variety):
· Ensures efficient operation and profitability. Responsible for the financial performance of the area(s) assigned.
· Forecasts weekly, monthly, and annual financial activity. Prepares annual budgets for area(s) assigned. Analyzes P&L results against budget and forecast, including occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, GOP, and flow-through, and recommends actions to improve performance.
· Lead and/or support the quality assurance processes, audits and internal inspection programs. Leads preparation for brand standards (QA) audits and implements corrective action plans for any deficiencies.
· Monitors guest satisfaction and online reputation scores; ensures timely responses to guest reviews and develops action plans to improve Intent to Recommend and brand ranking.
· Partners with sales and revenue management on pricing, forecasting, group and conference business, and competitive set performance (STR RevPAR Index).
· Provides team leadership in all aspects of operations and customer service.
· Responsible for ensuring staffing levels are appropriate and meet financial and operational goals.
· Ensures compliance with established laws and regulations within their assigned area.
· Ensures continued adherence to all Enterprise standards and procedures within their assigned area.
· Utilizes industry standards, best practices, and Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) to monitor and direct operational performance.
· Accountable for the development and implementation of effective training programs in their area of responsibility.
· Ensures the cleanliness, sanitation, and safety of production, service, guest rooms, and common areas.
· Ensures assigned area is ready for service, and maintained at the highest quality throughout service.
· Ensures compliance with cash and credit card policies and procedures in all area(s) assigned.
· Resolves equipment, maintenance, and facility issues quickly and effectively.
· Interacts directly with customers and vendors to resolve issues and complaints in a timely manner.
· Responsible for ensuring work schedules are communicated appropriately, and time is recorded per Enterprise standards.
· Ensures staff report to work on time, in uniform, and ready to work.
· Required to communicate with co-workers, vendors, and other departments with professionalism and respect.
· Reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.
· Ensures the property's life safety, security, and emergency preparedness programs meet brand, Cal/OSHA, and other regulatory requirements.
· Serve as Manager on Duty during the General Manager’s absence.
· Works hands-on in any department as business demands, including front desk, housekeeping, and food and beverage service.
· Responsible for submitting a variety of routine and complex reports in an accurate, timely manner.
· Ability to adhere to a regular work schedule and must be able to work a varied schedule that may include nights, weekends and holidays.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION: Responsible for the training of staff necessary to carry out effective operations of the area assigned; responsible for hiring, disciplining of effectively recommending discipline, performance evaluation and ensuring staff has the level of proficiency required to perform job duties. Ensuring staffing levels are appropriate and aligned with the Enterprises’ vision/goals by adjusting staffing levels and hours as needed using independent judgment and discretion.
Directly supervises department heads (e.g., Front Office, Housekeeping), full time and student staff; directly supervises the activities of contracted staff providing services that may include custodial, landscaping, trash collection, pest control, repairs and other facility services.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· 2-year College Degree or equivalent and a minimum of three years supervisory experience in a branded, high-quality hotel.
· Working knowledge of hotel P&L management and operating metrics (occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, GOP, flow-through).
· Proficiency with hotel property management and reservation systems and Microsoft Office.
· Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills. Skill in negotiating and exchanging ideas with others to formulate policies and programs and to arrive jointly at decisions, conclusions or solutions.
· Ability to develop, interpret and apply policies and procedures to variety of situations.
· Ability to be resourceful and to take initiative.
· Open to new ideas and adaptable to changing technology.
· Ability to quickly establish rapport, professional credibility and cooperative working relationships among all levels of the organization, campus and external.
· Servsafe Manager’s or equivalent certification
· Flexibility to adjust to changing schedules. Will be required to work weekends, evenings and holidays.
· Must be able to travel to off-site meetings, events and work location as required to fulfil the responsibilities of the position.
Preferred qualifications
· Five years of successful supervisory experience in a branded, high-quality hotel.
· Bachelor’s degree in hospitality, Business or related field.
