Start your adventure with Zip

As Senior Accounting & Reporting Analyst, you will be a senior individual contributor within US Accounting & Control focused on the bookends of the recurring close: helping the team enter close prepared and exit close with a clear, well-supported view of the financial results, key movements, risks and follow-up actions. You will combine hands-on accounting execution with ownership of close analytics, reporting packages, quality routines and accountability mechanisms that strengthen the accuracy, timeliness and transparency of the US close.

This is a broad-based accounting and reporting role rather than a narrowly defined accounting specialty. You will own one or more day-to-day accounting areas and participate directly in routine month-end activity, while also working horizontally across the Controller team to improve close readiness, balance-sheet and P&L analytics, issue visibility, reporting quality, controls and operating discipline. You will partner closely with FP&A, Finance Systems, Operations, Data, Audit and other US and Global Finance stakeholders, and will be expected to use data, visualization, automation and emerging AI capabilities to make the broader team more effective.

Interesting problems you’ll get to solve

- Independently manage key close-management and close-readiness routines, including calendar discipline, dependency tracking, issue escalation, completion visibility and follow-up actions, helping the team enter each close with clear ownership and fewer preventable surprises.

- Build and continuously improve the US Controller close reporting package, synthesizing balance-sheet and P&L movements, significant variances, unusual activity, open items, accounting judgments and control matters into clear reporting for Controller and Finance leadership.

- Develop repeatable analytics and visualizations that improve understanding of financial results and close quality, using accounting data to identify trends, anomalies, breaks, aged items, recurring adjustments and areas requiring management attention.

- Own one or more recurring accounting areas end-to-end, including journal entries, reconciliations, substantiation, supporting schedules, review-ready documentation and timely resolution of issues, while serving as flexible capacity across the close when priorities shift.

- Strengthen close quality and accountability by designing, operating, and improving practical review routines, checklists, evidence standards, certifications, issue logs and other mechanisms that make ownership, status and exceptions transparent.

- Perform and support analytical review of account balances and financial statement movements, investigating root causes and partnering with accounting owners and upstream teams to resolve data, process or accounting issues before they recur.

- Partner with Finance Systems, Data and business stakeholders to improve source-data quality, reporting logic, reconciliations and data lineage, clearly defining accounting and reporting requirements and validating that resulting changes meet Controller needs.

- Partner with Treasury to monitor debt portfolio performance, covenant compliance and key financing metrics, developing scalable analytics and reporting that provide timely visibility into trends, emerging risks and potential compliance issues and support effective funding and financial management.

- Apply automation, AI and agentic tools directly in recurring close work to improve analysis, documentation, reconciliations, control evidence and issue identification, while applying appropriate accounting judgment, review and governance and identifying practical use cases for broader enablement.

- Partner closely with US Finance Change & Transformation, acting as the Controller team’s subject-matter partner for close-related automation and AI use cases by helping define requirements, validating outputs, and supporting adoption.

- Continuously improve the close calendar, checklists, reporting package and related close-management routines, reducing manual work and unnecessary handoffs while preserving clear ownership, auditability and effective controls.

- Coordinate cross-functional workstreams to resolve close issues and remediate root causes, establishing clear ownership, dependencies and follow-up actions and driving issues through sustainable resolution.

What you’ll bring to the team

- 5+ years of progressive Accounting or Finance experience, including meaningful hands-on responsibility for month-end close, balance-sheet reconciliations, financial reporting and analysis; experience in a scaled or rapidly evolving environment is preferred.

- Strong accounting foundation and working knowledge of US GAAP, with the judgment to understand how operational activity, journal entries, account movements and accounting decisions flow through the financial statements.

- Proven ability to operate as a senior individual contributor: independently owning important workstreams, navigating ambiguity, setting an approach, coordinating dependencies and driving work through completion with limited day-to-day oversight.

- Strong analytical orientation with demonstrated ability to turn detailed accounting and financial data into useful insights, identify anomalies and root causes, and communicate the story behind financial movements rather than only producing the underlying schedules.

- Advanced Excel or equivalent analytical skills and hands-on experience with data visualization or business-intelligence tools; comfort working with larger datasets, structured data and reporting logic is strongly preferred.

- Practical experience using automation and emerging AI tools to improve finance or accounting work. Comfort experimenting with agentic workflows, while understanding the need for human review, data controls, governance and auditability, is strongly preferred.

- Demonstrated controls mindset, including experience with reconciliations, review evidence, process documentation, SOX or audit support, and the design or improvement of repeatable quality-control routines.

- Ability to communicate clearly with both accounting and non-accounting audiences, including the ability to build concise reporting packages, visual summaries and issue narratives that enable efficient review and decision-making.

- Strong systems aptitude and curiosity about how accounting data is created, transformed and consumed across ERP, reconciliation, reporting, workflow and data environments. Hands-on NetSuite experience is strongly preferred; SQL or similar data-query experience is a plus.

- Comfort with a fast-moving environment, competing priorities and evolving processes, with a bias toward ownership, practical problem solving and improvements that raise the effectiveness of the broader team; clear alignment with Zip’s core values.Zip’s core values
