MARKETING & DESIGN OPPORTUNITY

MARKETING DESIGNER - Life Science

About the Company

Sapho Bio is the developer of a rapid microbiology release platform for precision medicine. We are a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers committed to transforming pharmaceutical release testing through innovation, speed, and accuracy. We are a team built on ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement, scaling rapidly following product validation and commercial traction. Our culture emphasizes agency, innovation, intellectual curiosity, and continual learning.

About the Role

We are seeking a Marketing Designer to rapidly create, curate, and scale the content that makes Sapho Bio's science understandable, credible, and compelling. This role sits at the intersection of marketing, visual design, and scientific communication. This position reports to the Head of Growth. Your work will span paid ad and marketing campaigns, email and newsletters, social and web content, flyers and sales collateral, and technical documentation. You will work in close partnership with our Growth Engineer.

This role is designed for someone who is equally comfortable in a design tool, an ad manager, and a scientific document. We care about evidence that you can produce polished, technically accurate content quickly and at scale, and that it drives qualified leads.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree and 2+ years creating marketing or technical content, pairing strong visual design and writing with real scientific or technical depth; experience in biotech, pharma, or other regulated industries is a strong plus.

- A visual portfolio demonstrating your design and writing work and the results of campaigns you ran, such as ad campaigns, social content, video, flyers, or technical documents.

- Daily, hands-on use of AI-native design tools and workflows (e.g., Claude Design, agentic design, AI image and video generation) to take assets from brief to polished, on-brand final in hours, not days. Canva or Adobe skills are a plus, but not sufficient on their own.

- Track record of campaigns across email (e.g., HubSpot) and social channels (e.g., LinkedIn, X, TikTok, Meta), plus technical collateral (flyers, application notes, white papers), with measurable outcomes you can show, such as engagement, open and click through rates, leads, or pipeline influenced.

- Hands-on experience setting up and managing paid ad campaigns (e.g., LinkedIn, Meta, Google, X), including audience targeting, creative testing, budget management, and optimizing for cost per qualified lead.

- Experience creating short-form social video and product explainers, including AI-generated video, that earn attention and shares while staying technically and scientifically accurate.

- Ability to manage multiple priorities, move quickly, and maintain strong attention to detail in a fast-paced startup environment, with a demonstrated ownership mentality and strong follow-through.

- Must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of San Carlos, CA.

Responsibilities

- Rapidly turn cold contacts into qualified leads with email and social campaigns, newsletters, and curated content that move prospects from first touch to a sales conversation.

- Set up, run, and optimize paid ad campaigns across LinkedIn, Meta, Google, X, and other relevant channels, owning targeting, creative, A/B testing, and budget to lower cost per qualified lead.

- Build self-serve website content, such as product pages, application notes, white papers, FAQs, and explainer videos, that lets prospects educate themselves and convert without waiting on sales.

- Produce a high volume of polished, on-brand assets, including flyers, one-pagers, social graphics, short-form video, and conference materials, using AI-native design workflows to go from brief to final in hours, not days.

- Write clear, technically accurate copy and documentation, partnering with scientists and leadership so every claim is correct.

- Build reusable templates, brand guidelines, and an organized asset library so quality holds as output scales.

- Track the performance of every asset and campaign, including engagement, conversion, and lead quality, and iterate quickly in partnership with the Growth Engineer.

- Own projects end to end and perform other duties as assigned in support of company growth.

Schedule & Location

- This position is full-time, exempt, and primarily onsite in San Carlos, California.

- The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, with regular in-person collaboration across the team.

- Occasional travel may be required for conferences, company events, customer research, training, or other business needs.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: $100,000 - $115,000 annually

In addition to base compensation, this position is eligible for stock option participation, subject to

company equity plan terms.

Benefits:

- Paid Time Off: Unlimited PTO, plus company-recognized holidays.

- Health Benefits: Medical, dental, and vision coverage.

- DoorDash Credit: $25 credit for lunch and dinner while working in the office.

- 401(k) Plan with company matching, subject to plan terms.

Ideal Candidate Profile

You are someone who:

- Takes full ownership of outcomes, not just assigned tasks.

- Has a strong work ethic and consistently follows through on commitments.

- Is intellectually curious and committed to continuous learning.

- Learns quickly and adapts well to changing priorities.

- Maintains a high level of integrity, accountability, and professionalism.

- Enjoys working in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment.

- Uses AI-native tools to ship more, faster, without sacrificing quality.
