Team Lead Manager - Product Engineer
omnea · London · hybrid
GBP 110,000 to 180,000 per year
OUR MISSION:
Omnea is the agentic operating system for procurement.
Procurement touches every pound a business spends, yet requests still stall for weeks and approvals get lost in inboxes. Our AI-first platform changes that: our agents capture requests, route approvals, onboard suppliers, flag risk and track every renewal, while anyone in the business can ask a question and get an answer grounded in their own company’s data. Buying becomes painless for everyone, procurement gets a seat at the table, and our customers have saved more than 100,000 hours of manual work so far.
Companies like Spotify, PayPal, T. Rowe Price, JustEat, Adyen and S&P Global run procurement on Omnea. We’re backed by $75M from Khosla Ventures, Insight Partners and Accel, and we’ve been named the UK’s number one startup in the Startups 100, ranked 11th on Sifted’s 2026 list of Europe’s fastest-growing companies, and recognised as one of Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies.
Talent density matters more to us than almost anything else. We keep the bar high in every team, so everyone here has real ownership and real impact. Our team is full of former founders and operators who’ve scaled unicorns, and we’re looking for people who want to do the best work of their careers alongside them.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We’re looking for highly technical engineers who want to lead and manage one of our engineering teams. It took over 10,000 interviews to hire our first 50 Omneans, and we’re now growing from 11 to more than 14 engineering teams in the coming months. Over the next year, our engineering team will double in size, our enterprise customer base will grow from ~180 to 300+, and revenue will triple.
As a Team Lead Manager, you’ll lead a small team of engineers. You’ll set its technical direction, line-manage and grow the people in it, and stay hands-on in the code. This is not a hands-off management role: our teams are small, and you’ll be one of the strongest engineers on yours. You’ll partner closely with a Product Manager and Product Designer to decide what to build, and you’ll be accountable for how well it’s built and how fast it ships.
If you’re a strong Tech Lead who hasn’t managed people yet, we’d still love to hear from you. You can start as a Team Lead, with management handled by an Engineering Manager, and grow into the full role with our support.
WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT AS A TEAM LEAD MANAGER?
- Lead and Manage a Small Team. Line-manage the engineers on your team, run 1:1s, give feedback, and help them take on bigger problems.
- Stay Deeply Technical. You’ll still build. Expect to spend a meaningful share of your time writing code, reviewing PRs, and unblocking the hardest technical problems.
- AI-Native Development. AI is core to how we build. Engineers use Claude, Code, and agentic workflows every day, and our product is built on AI agents that automate complex procurement workflows. You’ll set the bar for how your team uses them.
- Customers at the Center. Talk directly with customers to understand their problems, and make sure your team builds things that create real value for them.
- Own Technical Direction. Make the architecture and design calls for your team’s problem space, and own the trade-offs between speed, quality, and long-term maintainability.
- Work with Modern Technology. TypeScript across the stack, React, Postgres, and AWS serverless (Lambda, DynamoDB, EventBridge), managed through Pulumi and deployed via GitHub Actions. Datadog, Meticulous, and Incident.io http://Incident.io round it out.
- Shape the Roadmap. Work with your PM and Designer on prioritisation, scoping, and sequencing so the team ships what matters most.
- Build the Team. Interview, hire, and onboard new engineers as we double in size.
ABOUT YOU
- You’re a highly technical full-stack engineer. You’ve designed and shipped web apps end to end in TypeScript, ideally on AWS serverless, and you’re still one of the strongest engineers in the room.
- You’ve led engineers. You’ve been a Tech Lead, Team Lead, or TLM, owning delivery and technical direction for a team.
- You want to manage people, or grow into it. Ideally, you’ve line-managed engineers already. If not, you’re keen to learn.
- You still love to build. Leading hasn’t pulled you away from the code, and you want a role where you keep shipping.
- You raise the bar. You know what well-architected, reliable software looks like, and you help others get there through reviews, pairing, and clear feedback.
- You’re motivated by customer impact. You care about outcomes for customers, not just output, and you make good calls on what to build and what to cut.
- You’re a strong partner. You work well with product and design, push back when it matters, and bring people with you.
- You’re comfortable with ambiguity. You can take an unclear problem, shape it, and get a team moving on it.
NICE-TO-HAVES
- You’ve led a team through fast growth, ideally at a scale-up where the team and product changed quickly.
- You’ve built B2B or enterprise SaaS, with complex workflows and demanding customers.
- You’ve performed exceptionally at something else, be it academics, sport, or work.
INTERVIEW PROCESS
Before applying, we strongly encourage you to spend a few minutes in our R&D Candidate Hub. It covers our engineering culture, ways of working, interview process, tech environment, and what it’s like to build at Omnea.

Note: our pair programming stage is in TypeScript OR Python and you’ll be assessed as if it’s your primary language. This is a full-stack, hands-on leadership role, so if you’re exclusively frontend, backend, or platform-focused, or no longer writing code, it likely isn’t the right fit.
The process generally includes:
1. Initial screening call with our Talent team (30 mins, remote)
2. AI Product Eng Challenge, language-agnostic (1 hour, remote)
3. Onsite interviews at our Victoria office (~3 hours)
- Engineering Culture interview with an Engineering Manager or Team Lead (45 mins)
- System Design interview with a Senior Engineer (60 mins)
- Engineering Leadership interview with our CTO (45 mins)
- Office tour (15 mins)
We’re proud to support visa sponsorship for candidates who need it.
At Omnea, we embrace diversity. To build a product that's loved by everyone, we're best served by a team with all sorts of backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't quite match the full job spec! And regardless of your race, religion, colour, gender, or anything else!
