Position Overview:

AptNexus is seeking a Senior Data Analyst (Risk Analytics) to support a cybersecurity compliance program for our Department of Treasury customer. The program uses a risk-based model to prioritize which government partner organizations receive compliance reviews, drawing on historical review findings and other risk indicators. In this role, you will maintain and enhance the risk model and its scoring logic, ensure the accuracy and integrity of the underlying data, and deliver dashboards and analysis that inform customer decision-making. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented self-starter who combines strong technical skills with the ability to explain results clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

Duties/Responsibilities:

- Maintain and enhance a risk-based selection model and the scoring calculations that rank partner organizations by compliance risk.

- Maintain and operate the data fields, code, and scripts used to analyze review findings and their relationship to risk model outputs.

- Revise and maintain the formulas and Excel VBA macros that apply weighted evaluations of risk factors, ensuring correct calculation and functionality.

- Aggregate data from multiple sources to identify the highest-risk partner organizations, and validate automated results to ensure the accuracy of rankings.

- Design and maintain risk dashboards in Tableau that track findings, risk levels, rankings, remediation status, and historical trends.

- Identify opportunities to improve the risk model, and plan and implement approved enhancements in coordination with customer stakeholders.

- Present analytical results, model changes, and recommendations to customer leadership and non-technical audiences.

- Contribute to quarterly planning sessions and the work plan that defines analytics priorities and deadlines.

- Guide and review the work of supporting data analysts.

- Document models, data definitions, scripts, and procedures so that work is repeatable and transferable.

- Comply with all customer security, privacy, and records management requirements, using only Government-furnished equipment and approved systems.

Required Skills

- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in data analysis, analytics, or data science, including building or maintaining analytical or risk scoring models.

- Demonstrated experience applying scientific methods, processes, and algorithms to extract insights from structured and unstructured data.

- Advanced proficiency in Python 3 and R for data preparation, analysis, and automation.

- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex formulas and developing and maintaining VBA macros.

- Proficiency building interactive dashboards and visualizations in Tableau.

- Experience with automation and scripting techniques to improve the accuracy and efficiency of recurring analysis.

- Demonstrated ability to present analytical results clearly to management and non-technical audiences.

- Familiarity with risk-based approaches to compliance or audit, or with cybersecurity compliance data, is preferred.

- Detail-oriented self-starter who takes ownership of assignments, manages competing priorities, and drives work to completion with minimal supervision.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex analysis into clear recommendations.

- Sound professional judgment and integrity in handling sensitive information.

- Must meet federal eligibility requirements for a position of public trust, including U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency, federal tax compliance, Selective Service registration (if applicable), a credit check, and fingerprinting.

- Must complete customer-required security awareness training upon onboarding and annually thereafter.
