- Taking commercial ownership: Manage project resources and design delivery to achieve quality, programme and financial objectives.

- Bringing disciplines together: Lead multidisciplinary projects at both a technical and commercial level, working closely with colleagues and external design teams.

- Building client confidence: Explain design decisions clearly, provide practical advice and develop effective, lasting working relationships.

- Developing others: Share your expertise, review work and support engineers and technicians as they build their skills.

- Applying intelligent design: Use appropriate analysis and modelling tools to develop efficient solutions, with flexibility, buildability and sustainability in mind.

What you’ll bringYou’ll combine strong structural engineering knowledge with a practical approach to leadership and delivery. We’re looking for:

- Substantial experience in a UK design consultancy, typically gained over 10 or more years following graduation or qualification.

- A varied project portfolio, with particular experience in medium- to high-rise residential, education, logistics and commercial developments.

- Strong technical judgement, particularly in early-stage concept design, alongside experience supporting projects through to construction.

- Experience leading project teams, coordinating engineers and technicians, and managing competing workloads.

- Commercial awareness and the ability to balance design quality with project budgets, resources and deadlines.

- An understanding of other engineering disciplines and confidence coordinating multidisciplinary design.

- Strong IT skills and familiarity with relevant structural analysis and design tools.

- Clear communication, sound organisation and a collaborative approach to solving problems.

Chartered Engineer status is desirable, preferably through IStructE. We also value the depth of your practical experience, technical knowledge and leadership capability.
