The Role

We’re looking for a strategic and client-focused professional to join our Tax Services team. In this role, you’ll manage an assigned book of business while leading the delivery of integrated tax planning, compliance, and advisory services. The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and is known for technical expertise, strong client relationships, and the ability to develop others while ensuring exceptional service.

What You’ll Do

- Manage an assigned book of business, overseeing client service, tax deliverables, workflow, deadlines, and engagement coordination.

- Serve as the primary Tax Services contact for assigned clients, building trusted relationships and coordinating services with advisors and internal partners.

- Review individual, business, trust, and other complex tax returns and supporting workpapers for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.

- Identify tax planning opportunities, technical issues, and additional information needed while providing clear direction to preparers.

- Lead tax planning, research, and analysis to support clients' broader financial objectives.

- Prepare and review tax research memoranda, correspondence, and responses to IRS and other federal, state, and local tax authorities.

- Manage responses to tax notices, examinations, and information requests.

- Coordinate workflow across client engagements by delegating work, monitoring capacity, managing deadlines, and resolving workflow challenges.

- Communicate complex tax matters clearly and professionally with clients, colleagues, and external parties.

- Coach, mentor, and develop Associates and Senior Associates through work review, technical guidance, and knowledge sharing.

- Oversee the effective use of CCH, BNA, and other tax preparation, research, and workflow systems.

- Partner with advisors and internal teams to integrate tax planning into each client's overall financial strategy.

- Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational efficiency, client service, and team effectiveness.

What You Bring

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

- Active CPA license or Enrolled Agent (EA) credential required.

- 5–8 years of progressive experience in tax preparation, planning, and compliance; public accounting experience preferred.

- Demonstrated experience preparing and reviewing complex individual, business, trust, and other tax returns.

- Experience managing client relationships and an assigned book of business.

- Experience leading multiple tax engagements while balancing competing priorities and deadlines.

- Strong tax research skills and experience responding to federal, state, and local tax authority inquiries.

- Experience providing work direction, coaching, mentoring, and technical guidance to developing professionals.

- Advanced experience with professional tax preparation, research, and workflow systems; CCH and BNA experience strongly preferred.

- Exceptional analytical, organizational, leadership, and communication skills.

- Must be authorized to work in the United States.

- Successful completion of a credit and criminal background check is required.

Compensation & Benefits

The estimated base salary range for this role is $119,000 – $164,000. Compensation is based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographical work location. This role may also be eligible for variable pay.
