About the Team:

At ParetoHealth, the Analytics team sits at the intersection of healthcare data, business strategy, and decision-making. We work with rich medical, pharmacy, stoploss, and business datasets to generate insights that directly influence product strategy, client outcomes, underwriting, and internal operations. The team partners closely with a varied set of stakeholders to move from questions to action, promoting data-driven decision making across the organization. We do this within a team culture of collaboration, shared responsibility, mutual respect, and growth.

Position Summary:

As a Data Manager, you will support harnessing the critical data required to support strategic decision-making at the company. You will play a key role in executing the vision of the Analytics team to provide intelligence to stakeholders across the organization, serving as a liaison between technical data management and business strategy.

This position will report to the VP of Analytics. It requires experience working with rich, multi-faceted data that includes medical and pharmacy claims as well as a variety of other healthcare-related data sources.

Key Responsibilities:

- Support End-to-End Analyses

- Work directly with large, messy healthcare datasets, including medical and pharmacy claims

- Build and maintain robust SQL queries and analytical datasets

- Ensure that all data assets are accurately managed and maintained, and are usable for business purposes

- Support specific data integration efforts

- Partner with Lead Data Manager and stakeholders to ensure understanding of business requirements

- Partner with Data Engineering to create and maintain appropriate data structures and models

- Coordinate with internal and external data suppliers to ensure timeliness and accuracy of inbound data sources

- Follow and enhance data quality assurance processes and data governance policies

- Ensure creation of appropriate metadata to ensure data is well documented and understood

- Collaborate Within the Team

- Work closely with other team resources to ensure necessary data sources are created, maintained and documented for all team projects

- Contribute through collaboration and shared problem-solving

What We're Looking For:

- A problem-solver with a natural sense of curiosity, analytic rigor, and a deep interest in understanding complex healthcare data

- A collaborator with proven ability to work cross-functionally across many different stakeholders to create and deliver insights

- An adaptable utility player who can flex across data operations, analysis, quality assurance, documentation, and process improvement as priorities evolve

- A strong communicator who effectively shares information at the appropriate level across a wide variety of audiences

- A self-starter with a demonstrated track record of owning projects from idea to execution

- A translator who connects business requirements with the necessary data to support them

Required Skills & Qualifications:

- 5+ years’ experience in a healthcare-based data management/stewardship role

- 3+ years’ experience working directly with administrative healthcare data (medical and pharmacy claims, enrollment data)

- Deep understanding of database models, ETL tools, and common quality challenges inherent in healthcare data

- Strong SQL skills, including building, optimizing, and validating complex queries

- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative/data related field (or equivalent work experience)

- Bonus: Experience working with Salesforce data, healthcare vendor-reported utilization and savings data, and/or stop loss insurance data

- Bonus: Familiarity with AWS Serverless Services and data tools, such as S3, Lambda, Glue, Sagemaker and EMR

- Bonus: Experience using programming languages, such as Python, for analysis and data wrangling
