Job Summary:
The Meal Site & Community Activities Manager will provide direct supervision through the Congregate Meal program, including traditional meal sites; senior day centers; voucher and senior dine programs and will plan all activities that take place at the Muskegon County sites. This leader will supervise the day-to-day operations and schedules. This “coach” will help lead the program by mentoring and coaching Site Coordinators, Subs and Contract Instructors. The Manager will assist with program planning, evaluation, reporting and oversight. The Manager will be responsible for planning and implementing recreational activities at all Lunch & Activity Centers in Muskegon County as well as oversee and plan activities at the Berkshire location.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist with the daily operations for the Congregate program.
- Assist the Client Services Director with managing contracts with meal sites; including traditional congregate meal sites, day center programs, voucher, and senior dine programs.
- Ensure that all team members understand and comply with food service codes and grant regulations.
- Train and coach team members to provide excellent service.
- Cultivate relationships with local restaurants in effort to recruit for Discount Dine partnerships.
- Implement participant evaluation
- Track nutrition education (monthly)
- Ensure fire drills are conducted at each Congregate Site twice per year and document.
- Complete monthly and quarterly reporting as needed for both Congregate Meals and Senior Center Activities at meal sites.
- Conduct formal site assessments annually.
- Manage, coach, review, hire and terminate Congregate Site Coordinators, and Contract Instructors with the help of the Client Services Director and the Human Resources Director.
- Coordinate monthly/bimonthly Congregate Site Coordinator meetings.
- Facilitate and manage the Congregate/Activities Advisory Committee, meeting twice per year.
- Assist the leadership team in creating and implementing Standard Operating Procedures for programs.
- Assist in maintaining records for Health Department licenses for all sites, ServSafe Certifications of team members and contracts for all meal sites.
- Stay on top of trends and training opportunities to ensure we develop and offer a variety of programs in all the dimensions of wellness and nutrition.
- Collaborate with community organizations to implement quality programming in the areas of intellectual, social, spiritual and nutritional for Senior Community Activities (SCA).
- Recruit manage and schedule contract teachers and volunteers to perform SCA at meal site locations as needed.
- Order and manage inventory of supplies and equipment.
- Submit program information for newsletters and operation reports.
- Responsible for monthly reporting for congregate meal program and senior community activities.
Required Qualifications or Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in work experience in nonprofit or Human Services field
- Computer proficiency is required.
- Ability to analyze situations and people.
- Ability to resolve and mediate conflicts.
- Ability to work independently, yet function as a member of a team while managing time effectively and efficiently.
- Ability to coach, mentor and train team members.
- Protect client confidentiality and rights.
- Organizational skills
- Ability to multi-task; prioritize and develop programs
Preferred Qualifications
- Understanding of nutrition, food service operations and regulations.
- Knowledge of community resources.
- Experience with aging services
- Previous experience with program administration
Work Environment/Culture:
- Office setting with frequent phone and computer use. Travel between Lunch and Activity Centers and Senior Community Activity Sites in 3 county area, Muskegon, Oceana and Ottawa. Occasional travel to conferences.
