LANDSCAPE GROUNDS SUPV 2

UC San Francisco (UCSF) · San Francisco, California, United States

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Associate Director of Grounds & Integrated Pest Management (IPM), the Landscape Grounds Supervisor 2 provides direct frontline supervision, operational leadership, technical expertise, and administrative management for these services across multiple UCSF locations.

The position supervises and coordinates Grounds employees supporting Campus, UCSF Health, Housing, Parking & Transportation, and other UCSF-owned and leased facilities. Assigned employees may work simultaneously at geographically separated locations, requiring the supervisor to maintain effective oversight, communication, accountability, and employee support across a diverse service area.

The Landscape Grounds Supervisor 2 receives assignments in the form of organizational objectives and service goals and independently determines how employees, equipment, vehicles, contractors, materials, schedules, technology, and other available resources will be organized to achieve those objectives.

The position develops short- and long-term strategies for routine and non-routine Grounds operations; evaluates field conditions; identifies operational and public-safety risks; develops solutions; establishes and recommends operating procedures; and provides technical guidance to employees, customers, Facility Managers, and Facilities Services leadership.

Because UCSF facilities interface extensively with public sidewalks, streets, municipal infrastructure, neighboring properties, and public spaces, the position coordinates with local municipalities and other public agencies when exterior conditions cross organizational or jurisdictional responsibilities.

Risk management and preventive maintenance are significant components of the position. The supervisor proactively identifies exterior conditions that may create safety, accessibility, operational, property, or service risks and ensures that those conditions are documented, prioritized, corrected, monitored, or appropriately referred to the responsible entity.

The position promotes value improvement, innovation, and continuous improvement through the use of technology, GIS and asset information, landscape and irrigation management systems, operational data, and industry best practices.
