This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director of Global Event Marketing based in Canada.
We are seeking an experienced, hands-on marketing leader to build and scale a global event marketing program for a B2B technology business serving conference organizers and event professionals. In this player-coach role, you will oversee the full event portfolio, including industry trade shows, sponsored conferences, exclusive customer gatherings, and the development of a first annual user conference. You will combine strategic planning with hands-on execution, managing budgets, vendors, messaging, logistics, and performance measurement. Working closely with Demand Generation, Sales, Customer Success, and Marketing Operations, you will turn events into measurable drivers of pipeline, revenue, and customer engagement. This opportunity is ideal for a commercially minded marketer who values autonomy, operational excellence, and data-backed decisions. The role is remote within Canada, with travel approximately once a month across North America and Europe.
Accountabilities
-
Global Event Strategy and Leadership: Own the end-to-end event marketing strategy, portfolio, calendar, and budget, aligning each initiative with business goals, pipeline generation, revenue growth, and customer engagement.
-
Trade Show Management: Lead all aspects of third-party trade show participation, including event selection, budgeting, messaging, pre-event campaigns, booth design, shipping, staffing, on-site execution, and post-event follow-up.
-
Pipeline Generation and Sales Alignment: Partner with Demand Generation and Sales to engage target accounts, book meetings before events, capture qualified leads, and ensure all leads are accurately recorded and attributed in HubSpot.
-
Sponsorship Management: Oversee sponsored industry events and establish clear deliverables and mutual expectations with partners. Coordinate on-site activities, grow the marketing database through opt-ins, and identify opportunities for customer advocacy and product adoption.
-
Owned Event Development: Create and manage workshops, meetups, exclusive dinners, and customer events, defining their objectives, formats, agendas, speakers, venues, and promotional strategies.
-
User Conference Launch: Develop a roadmap for expanding smaller owned events into an annual user conference, delivering an engaging experience that showcases the company's event technology and strengthens customer relationships.
-
Budget Ownership and Financial Accountability: Manage event budgets, vendor relationships, contracts, and forecasts, ensuring spending is controlled and resources are invested in the highest-performing initiatives.
-
Performance Reporting and Optimization: Track event costs, qualified opportunities, pipeline contribution, and revenue impact. Present quarterly recommendations to marketing leadership on which programs to scale, maintain, or discontinue.
-
Competitive Intelligence and Differentiation: Monitor industry trends, competing event technology solutions, and attendee needs to create distinctive event experiences and strengthen market positioning.
-
Team Leadership and Collaboration: Manage and develop an Event Coordinator while collaborating cross-functionally with marketing, sales, customer success, and operations teams to deliver consistent, high-quality events.
Requirements:
-
At least 8 years of experience in corporate event marketing within a B2B organization, including direct experience exhibiting at trade shows rather than exclusively managing events as an agency or organizer.
-
Proven experience managing a high volume of third-party trade shows and sponsored event programs.
-
Experience planning and executing mid-sized user conferences, customer events, or exclusive dinner series.
-
Strong familiarity with event technology, including registration platforms, lead capture applications, badge printing, and event app solutions.
-
Demonstrated ownership of event budgets, with the ability to connect event investment to qualified opportunities, pipeline, and revenue.
-
Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple events, vendors, deadlines, and stakeholders simultaneously.
-
Strong writing and messaging skills, including the ability to develop compelling event copy and marketing communications independently.
-
Working knowledge of HubSpot, lead attribution, and event performance reporting, with the ability to track results and understand the status of event-generated leads.
-
Experience collaborating with Demand Generation and Sales on target-account engagement, meeting bookings, lead follow-up, and conversion.
-
Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with a hands-on approach to guiding teams and delivering results.
-
Availability to travel approximately once a month across North America and Europe.
-
Canadian citizenship or permanent residency, with eligibility to work and travel across Canada, the United States, and Europe.
-
A reliable internet connection with at least 30 Mbps download speed and a safe, comfortable, ergonomic, and private remote workspace.
-
Familiarity with the events industry and professional associations such as IMEX, MPI, PCMA, CSAE, or ASAE is an advantage.
Benefits:
-
Competitive compensation: CAD $120,000–$140,000 in base salary plus bonus.
-
Stock options: Opportunity to participate in the company's long-term growth through equity incentives.
-
Health and employee benefits: Benefits package designed to support employee well-being.
-
Generous time off: 15 days of annual leave, three additional summer days, and a day off for your birthday.
-
Remote-first flexibility: Work remotely from an eligible location in Canada.
-
Quality remote-work equipment: Access to high-quality hardware and collaboration tools to support productivity from home.
-
Team connection opportunities: Regional in-person gatherings and coworking sessions throughout the year.
-
Leadership and growth: The opportunity to shape a global event marketing program, lead a dedicated coordinator, and build a user conference from the ground up.
-
Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with marketing, sales, customer success, and operations teams in a collaborative environment.
-
Meaningful business impact: Direct ownership of event strategy, investment decisions, and measurable contributions to pipeline and revenue.
