Job Title: Grinder Support Operator
Location: Mobile, Alabama (Temporary Project Assignment)
Reports to: Grinding Operations Manager
Compensation Range: $23.00–$28.00 per hour, depending on experience, skills, and qualifications
Other Compensation: Per diem and lodging provided when traveling, as applicable to the assignment.

What We Are Looking For
The Grinder Support Operator plays a critical role in supporting grinding and debris processing operations during disaster recovery and environmental projects. This temporary project assignment in Mobile, Alabama, is part of Ceres' storm recovery efforts and requires a dependable, safety-focused individual who can help maintain safe, efficient, and continuous grinding operations.
Working closely with equipment operators, site supervisors, and logistics teams, the Grinder Support Operator helps prepare and process debris, maintain safe work areas, identify potential hazards, and support overall site productivity. This position does not typically supervise other employees but is essential to keeping daily operations running safely and efficiently.
What You Will Do

Support grinding operations by staging, sorting, and feeding debris materials to grinding equipment.

Assist equipment operators to maintain a continuous workflow and minimize operational downtime.

Inspect incoming materials and remove contaminants or prohibited items before processing, when safe to do so.

Maintain safe work zones around grinding equipment and follow established safety procedures.

Perform routine site cleanup, remove debris buildup, and maintain organized work areas.

Communicate effectively with operators, supervisors, and team members to coordinate daily activities.

Conduct basic equipment checks and promptly report maintenance issues, equipment damage, and safety concerns.

Follow environmental regulations, company safety standards, and site-specific operating requirements.

Assist with loading, unloading, and moving materials and equipment as needed.

Support the mobilization and demobilization of grinding operations at project sites.

Perform other related duties as assigned to support storm recovery and project operations.
Required Qualifications

At least one year of experience in construction, forestry, debris management, or heavy equipment support.

Ability to work safely around heavy machinery and in active industrial or disaster recovery environments.

Ability to follow safety procedures, operational instructions, and supervisor direction.

Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, carrying, bending, and working on uneven terrain.

Strong teamwork, communication, and situational awareness.

Ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions and tolerate a physically demanding work environment.

Willingness to work flexible hours, including extended shifts and weekends, based on project needs.

Ability to travel or report to the temporary project assignment in Mobile, Alabama, as required.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting grinding, chipping, land clearing, or debris processing operations.

Familiarity with debris management, construction, or disaster recovery projects.

OSHA 10 or similar safety certifications.

Experience operating light equipment, such as skid steers or loaders.
What to Expect
This is a temporary project-based position supporting storm recovery operations in Mobile, Alabama. Assignment duration will depend on project requirements and operational needs.
You will primarily work outdoors at active grinding and debris management sites, often in challenging conditions that may include noise, dust, heat, humidity, rain, and uneven terrain. The pace of work is driven by operational demands, particularly during disaster response efforts.
You will work closely with equipment operators and field personnel, playing a hands-on role in keeping grinding and debris processing operations running efficiently. Work schedules may vary based on project timelines and emergency response needs, including extended shifts and weekends. Travel requirements, per diem, and lodging arrangements will depend on the assignment.
