Love great food, leading a team and being part of a busy, successful pub? Your next opportunity is waiting at The Oystercatcher!

We're looking for an ambitious Assistant Manager with a strong food background to join our team at The Oystercatcher in Penarth. If you're passionate about delivering fantastic food, developing people and driving sales, this is an exciting opportunity to join one of Hungry Horse's strongest food-performing sites.

With year-on-year growth to date, The Oystercatcher is already achieving great things. Now we're looking for the right person to help us build on that success, strengthen the team and make sure we're ready for the next stage of the pub's journey.

Why join The Oystercatcher?

The Oystercatcher is already one of Hungry Horse's strongest food-performing sites, with year-on-year growth demonstrating what the team can achieve.

This is your chance to join a successful business, help build an even stronger team and play a key role in its future. With potential investment on the horizon, getting the right people and standards in place is an important part of the journey.

If you're motivated by improving performance, developing people and being part of a busy food-led pub, this is a fantastic opportunity to make your mark.

What's the opportunity?

Welcome to The Oystercatcher, a popular family-friendly Hungry Horse pub in Penarth, offering fantastic views across Cardiff Bay and a great setting for guests to enjoy a meal, a drink or a family day out.

Our extensive Hungry Horse menu features juicy stacked burgers, tasty sharers and plenty of pub favourites, making food a huge part of what we do. With a spacious beer garden, outdoor play area and five heated outdoor huts, we're set up to welcome guests whatever the occasion or weather.

As Assistant Manager, you'll play a key role in supporting the General Manager, driving the business forward and ensuring our guests receive a brilliant experience every time they visit.

You'll be responsible for:

- Driving food performance: Help deliver consistently great food, maintain high standards and maximise the potential of our extensive menu.

- Leading from the front: Support the day-to-day running of the pub, setting the pace and leading by example during busy services.

- Developing your team: Coach, motivate and support colleagues, building a strong team that's confident, engaged and ready for the next challenge.

- Growing the business: Build on our year-on-year success by identifying opportunities to increase sales, improve performance and encourage repeat visits.

- Delivering outstanding service: Make sure every guest enjoys a warm welcome, great food and a memorable experience.

- Managing standards and costs: Support effective stock control, labour management, compliance and operational standards.

- Working towards the future: Help establish the right team, culture and performance to support the pub's ongoing development and potential future investment.

What we're looking for

We're particularly keen to hear from candidates with a strong food-led hospitality background who understand what it takes to run a successful, high-volume food operation.

You'll bring:

- Previous experience in a hospitality management or supervisory role.

- A strong understanding of food operations, ideally within a branded pub, restaurant or high-volume food business.

- The ability to lead, coach and develop a team in a busy environment.

- Commercial awareness and a genuine interest in driving food sales and business performance.

- A hands-on approach, with the confidence to support the team during busy services.

- Strong organisational skills and the ability to maintain high standards under pressure.

- A passion for great food and delivering an excellent guest experience.

Most importantly, you'll be ambitious, proactive and ready to make a difference. You'll understand that great results come from great people, and you'll be passionate about helping the team achieve its full potential.
