Welder / Fitter | Cleveland, OH | $40 - $50/hr Contract | Contract-to-Hire | 3 Openings | Tentative December 1 Start
Mural Group is partnering with a long-established Cleveland waterfront shipyard to place 3 Welders/Fitters on a contract-to-hire basis. This position supports new vessel construction and ship repair operations at an active, working shipyard. AWS certification is required and must be current.
What You Will Do
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, validate dimensions, and determine materials and installation routes during ship check.
- Fabricate shapes from installation drawings and ship check notes; install shapes, tack, and weld.
- Fit steel plate 3/16 inch and heavier; set up and lay out; bend light and heavy metal.
- Operate flux core welding processes with minimal supervision.
- Use hand tools, drill press, welding machines, air compressor, generator, chain hoist, sandblaster, paint gun, grinder, band saw, and forklift.
- Support electrical and mechanical disciplines; assist with jobsite setup, cleanup, and other duties as needed.
What You Bring
- Current AWS certification. This is a hard requirement and must be active at time of hire.
- Prior outfitting or fabricating experience in a shipyard, industrial, or heavy structural environment.
- Comfortable working with blueprints and ship check documentation independently.
- Experience working in confined spaces, on stairs and ladders, and outdoors year-round in all weather conditions.
- Bilingual Spanish is an advantage given the team’s workforce composition.
