Software Engineering Placement Students, Galway.

At Datavant, we’re working toward a future where every healthcare decision is powered by the right data, at the right time, in the right format.
As a Software Engineering Intern at our Galway R&D technology centre, you’ll help build products that support healthcare data exchange. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers, contribute to production features, and see how software engineering principles apply to real-world challenges.
You don’t need to know our full technology stack before joining. We value curiosity, problem-solving skills, strong programming fundamentals, and a willingness to learn. From day one, you’ll take on meaningful work with support from a collaborative team.
What you’ll do
- Help design, develop, and improve production features alongside experienced engineers.
- Contribute to scalable applications and data workflows that support healthcare data exchange.
- Develop your engineering skills through code reviews, mentorship, and hands-on development.
- Collaborate with colleagues across engineering, product, and data teams.
- Gain exposure to technologies such as Python, JavaScript, React, AWS, Spark, and Snowflake.
What you’ll bring
- Current enrolment in a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Foundational programming knowledge and experience with at least one modern language, such as Python or JavaScript.
- A basic understanding of web development, APIs, or databases gained through coursework, personal projects, or previous internships.
- Familiarity with SQL and relational databases is a plus, but is not required
- A collaborative approach and enthusiasm for working in a fast-paced team.
- Clear communication skills and a willingness to ask questions, seek feedback, and learn.

Join Datavant Ireland
Our Galway R&D technology centre tackles complex technology challenges with a clear purpose: helping healthcare data reach the people who need it. We’re looking for interns who want to understand user needs, solve problems, and build a strong foundation in software engineering.
This placement runs from January to August 2027 on a hybrid basis, with two days per week in our Galway office throughout the internship.
