Your day at NTT DATAThe Microsoft SQL and cloud database engineer, specialist or architect supports Microsoft SQL Server and cloud-based database services. The role maintains database availability, security, performance, recoverability and operational compliance across hosted, private-cloud and public-cloud environments.
Key responsibilities- Monitor database availability, performance, capacity and backup status.
- Resolve incidents involving database services, jobs, connectivity, storage and performance.
- Install, configure, patch and upgrade SQL Server environments.
- Administer cloud database services and associated platform configurations.
- Perform backup, restore and recovery activities.
- Support high availability, replication and disaster-recovery solutions.
- Conduct database performance analysis and tuning.
- Maintain access controls, encryption, auditing and security configurations.
- Support database migrations and platform-modernization initiatives.
- Automate recurring administration, monitoring and reporting activities.
- Contribute to lifecycle planning and technical documentation.
- At L5, define database architecture, modernization patterns and cloud-adoption standards.
Technical knowledge- Microsoft SQL Server.
- SQL Server Always On and related high-availability technologies.
- Azure SQL Database and Azure SQL Managed Instance.
- Cloud database monitoring and management.
- Backup, restoration and disaster recovery.
- Database security and access management.
- Performance optimization and capacity planning.
- PowerShell, T-SQL and automation.
Relevant certifications- Microsoft Azure database-administration certification.
- Microsoft Azure solutions-architecture certification.
- Relevant data-platform or cloud-security certification.
