In Common With + Quarters

In Common With is a design studio defining a new vocabulary for interiors, in which old-world craft meets at-scale manufacturing. Founded in 2018, our practice brings endless curiosity, exceptional materials, and unparalleled adaptability to lighting and objects for all spaces—created with our team of expert craftspeople, artists, and engineers around the world. In 2024, we opened Quarters, a hybrid retail and hospitality destination in Tribeca. Through ongoing collaborations with our peers in the worlds of art and design, Quarters crafts a vision of home that’s unfolding and alive.

Our obsessions with craft and collaboration originate from a boundless interest in people, objects, and an ongoing conversation between the two. Every product we make and every partnership we cultivate has that in common.

The Role

The Senior Supply Chain Manager owns order fulfillment end to end for In Common With, accountable for order management, logistics, and customer service across the full order lifecycle, including returns and resolutions, while continuously improving the operational workflows that support production and fulfillment.

This is a hands-on leadership role managing the Production and Service teams directly, while working closely with the Director of Supply Chain, Procurement, Inventory, and vendor partners to keep customer orders moving smoothly from order to delivery.

The role requires a working approach that is collaborative, detail-oriented, fast-paced, customer-centric, efficiency-driven, and outcome-oriented. The ideal candidate can move between the details and the bigger picture: catching a manufacturing delay before it reaches a client, refining the logistics strategy and budget, and stepping in personally on complex or custom orders that need hands-on coordination.

Success means reliable order fulfillment, a customer experience that matches the quality of the product, and operations that run with minimal oversight.

Core Responsibilities

Order Management

- Drive cross-functional planning with production, procurement, and inventory managers to align manufacturing schedules with open orders, material availability, and project deadlines.

- Identify potential manufacturing delays early and coordinate with production to adjust schedules as needed, and proactively notify changes to the Sales team and/or clients

- Refine operational systems and documentation with up-to-date information to ensure full organizational transparency.

- Project managing as-needed for complex orders (custom projects, large volume etc.)

- Manage 3PL relationship and day-to-day fulfillment, including monitoring and reporting on key performance metrics

Customer Experience

- Oversee order management from receipt of a client order to successful delivery of product, serving as the escalation point for project timelines, status updates, and issues related to supply chain, fulfillment, and/or logistics.

- Partner with the sales team to support Trade and Contract clients, managing complex logistics, delivery windows, and documentation required for large commercial job sites.

- Lead the Customer Service function to ensure timely and proactive communication regarding lead times, order status, tracking, and freight quotes for the sales team.

- Develop and lead the RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) process, handling transit damage claims, fixture issues and component replacements, ensuring issues are resolved efficiently and appropriately.

Outbound Logistics

- Own the logistics strategy and budget by selecting the best transport methods across parcel (UPS/FedEx), LTL freight, and white-glove delivery partners.

- Establish and maintain packaging standards to ensure all products ship securely to minimize transit damage and ensure products arrive intact.

- Develop and refine workflows to ensure accurate and effective shipping documents, customs paperwork, and freight quotes for the sales team.

Systems & Reporting

- Build and refine workflows to ensure clear visibility into the order lifecycle across the studio.

- Track, analyze, and report key operational health metrics (OTD, damage rates, fulfillment costs) to the Director of Supply Chain.

- Identify and call out trends in product, assembly or packaging quality and efficiency to the Product Operations team for evaluation.

Leadership and Working Style

- Strategic partnership: Shapes how department fulfillment goals translate into the logistics strategy and budget you own.

- Independent execution: Manages the Production and Service teams, and owns outbound logistics, with minimal day-to-day oversight from the Director of Supply Chain.

- Hands-on expertise: Catches manufacturing delays before they become client-facing problems, and steps in directly on complex or custom orders that need hands-on project management.

- Cross-functional accountability: Gets Procurement and Inventory aligned on manufacturing schedules and material availability.

- Responsible judgment: Resolves order, logistics, and customer-service issues within your authority, and escalates what represents real risk to the Director of Supply Chain with a clear recommendation.

Requirements

- 6+ years of order management, fulfillment, production, and/or logistics experience, including 3+ years managing people and cross-functional programs in product-based industries, ideally lighting, furniture, or high-end retail.

- Advanced proficiency with Google Sheets, CSV, Excel

- Deep understanding of both parcel and shipping, crate packaging, and damage mitigation for fragile products.

- Hands-on experience with Shopify and a modern WMS/shipping platform (direct ShipHero experience is a major plus).

- High comfort level building dashboards and trackers in Google Sheets and/or databases like AirTable or Notion.

- Experience working with 3PLs, warehouses, FedEx/UPS, and/or freight forwarders.

- Experience with a service ticketing system and/or CRM to field customer requests and/or manage clients, projects, or orders is helpful but not required

- Must be qualified to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.

Desired Qualifications

- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and communication skills

- Skilled at root-cause analysis, with a proactive approach to optimizing and documenting workflows for improved operational outcomes.

- Comfort navigating the unique demands of retail consumers, professional interior designers, and commercial general contractors.

- A proactive, "no task too small" attitude. You enjoy being on the studio floor with the makers just as much as optimizing systems at a desk.

- Motivated by collaboration, problem-solving, and creating order from complexity

- Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, high-growth environment

- A working style grounded in kindness, curiosity, clear communication, and accountability.

- Willingness to roll up your sleeves to get things done

- Able to learn new skills quickly in a fast-paced environment

- Dog-friendly (we share our studio with a few four-legged coworkers)

Studio + Compensation

- This is a full-time position based in our Gowanus, Brooklyn studio.

- Studio hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET

- $100,000 - $120,000 annually, commensurate with experience
