Cyber Security Co-op

Defibtech is seeking a Cyber Security Co-op responsible for supporting Defibtech cybersecurity applications and cyber events. In addition, this position will provide assistance and training to users of Defibtech’s business enterprise system. This position is based onsite at our headquarters in Guilford, CT with occasional travel to our sites in Branford and North Branford.

Core Responsibilities:

- Supports the maintenance of cybersecurity applications (examples: Proofpoint, ESET Endpoint, Azure SPAM filtering, Halo, Threatlocker, SonicWall firewall).

- Maintains and monitors ESET Endpoint protection events and alerts. Provide prompt response to isolate and remediate any threats.

- Maintains and monitors ESET EDR/XDR protection policies and exclusions to make sure security actions do not interfere with legitimate business processes.

- Maintains, monitors and designs Proofpoint and Microsoft Azure email treats and anti-spam protection policies and exceptions to minimize the number of “false positive” detections while keeping the malicious and unwanted emails aways from employee inboxes.

- Designs, maintains, and updates Threat Locker policies to ensure only allowed applications can run on selected computers. Maintains “whitelist” of applications and make sure to configure different user groups (e.g., R&D, Production) to their needs while protecting environment from non-approved processes and services.

- Continuously monitors firewall logs, applies updates and patches regularly, analyzes vulnerability notifications from vendors to keep appliance up to date.

- Supports other business system projects as assigned or as the situation dictates.

- Actively supports compliance of Company operations to all applicable laws, regulations and standards, good business practices and company documented procedures (including but not limited to FDA, Quality Management Systems Regulations, safety regulations, and applicable statutes).

Qualifications / Requirements:

- Bachelor’s degree with three years of related experience working with business enterprise systems or the equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.

- Experience with Epicor is desired but not required.

- Demonstrated competence in Microsoft .NET programming.

- Demonstrated competence in design and development of relational database queries and reports.

- Experience developing software for use in controlled manufacturing environments a plus.

- Experience developing medical device software and 21CFR Part 11 compliance a plus.

- Strong documentation skills (requirements, design specifications, test protocols, and work instructions).

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

- Specify primary setting(s): Office setting with computer-based work.

- Travel as needed, less than 5%

- Sedentary work with frequent sitting at a desk working on a computer, standing, and short durations of walking throughout location(s) and lifting up to 15lbs.

Compensation:

- $25 per hour, depending on experience, qualifications, and other job related factors.
