MARINE COATINGS SUPERVISOR | CLEVELAND, OH | $30 - $35/HR | DIRECT HIRE
Mural Group is partnering with a Marine company and shipyard in Cleveland, Ohio to place a Marine Coatings Supervisor. This is a working supervisor role: you will lead a blasting and painting crew while also being hands-on with the work. NACE certification is strongly preferred. Bilingual Spanish is a significant advantage given the crew's composition.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Supervise subcontract and shipyard employees on all painting and blasting assignments, reporting directly to the New Construction and Repair Manager on schedule and budget.
- Operate sandblasting equipment to clean and remove corrosion; blast coatings off hulls and tanks to prepare steel for painting.
- Prepare, tape, brush, roll, and spray surfaces using conventional and airless spray equipment.
- Mix coatings, prep surfaces on tanks, shipboard piping, and interior and exterior areas.
- Perform and document DFT, WFT, humidity, soluble salts, anchor profile, and dew point readings.
- Maintain blasting and painting equipment including hoses, pumps, pressure tanks, spray guns, and tips.
- Develop materials and stock needs for paint operations; evaluate applicant skills when hiring for the crew.
WHAT YOU BRING
- NACE certification strongly preferred (CIP Level 1 or higher).
- Proficiency in abrasive blasting, airless and HVLP painting, and knowledge of environmental precautions and applicable regulations.
- Thorough knowledge of coating application and surface preparation on various surfaces and spray equipment types.
- Strong leadership ability; comfortable leading a blasting and painting crew with minimal supervision.
- Marine experience preferred but not required.
- Bilingual Spanish strongly preferred.
