Your Opportunity

As a Community Coach, reporting to the Program Manager, you will play an important role in building trust and rapport with individuals and families, responding to their unique and diverse needs with empathy and compassion.

Working within the Person Led Coaching program, you will support children, young people, and their parents or carers across Western Sydney who are at risk of, or have experienced, domestic and family violence.

Using a person-led and strengths-based approach, you will support individuals to identify their goals, build on their strengths and capabilities, and work towards positive outcomes. You will also help us think differently about how we demonstrate impact, collect data, share stories, and influence the broader service system.

Your Key Responsibilities

- Develop strong, trusting relationships and rapport within the community.

- Focus on individuals’ strengths, assets and capabilities to tailor appropriate support.

- Work collaboratively with community members to achieve their identified goals and pathways.

- Build and maintain positive internal and external relationships, adapting your communication style when managing challenging situations or conflict.

- Draw on your experience to identify and advocate for positive changes within the service system.

- Complete required documentation and administrative duties in line with Mission Australia protocols.

- Conduct community-based activities and provide outreach support where required.

- Identify opportunities to improve service delivery and contribute to quality program activities that meet service standards.

Requirements for Success

You will bring:

- High-level interpersonal skills, self-motivation and a positive attitude.

- Strong listening and engagement skills, with the ability to understand and respond effectively to individual needs.

- Practical problem-solving skills and the ability to coach and positively influence others towards effective outcomes.

- The ability to work under broad direction, use initiative and manage your time effectively.

- A collaborative approach, with a willingness to contribute to improvements in work practices and processes.

- The ability to manage confidential information and sensitive social issues professionally.

- A person-led approach and a genuine belief in every individual’s capacity to grow and achieve positive change.

- Strong resilience, self-awareness and commitment to personal wellbeing and development.

- A full, unrestricted driver licence.

Before commencing with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualification and referee checks, and hold the required clearance to work with children and/or vulnerable people.

Your Benefits

- Rewarding work where you can make a real difference every day.

- Not-for-profit salary packaging, helping you reduce your taxable income through AccessPay.

- Opportunity to purchase additional annual leave.

- Free external confidential counselling and access to chaplaincy support.

- Volunteering opportunities.

- Additional leave, including Mission Australia Thank You Day and a Work Anniversary Day off.
