About the Opportunity

Parametrix is seeking an experienced Senior Drainage Engineer to join our growing Oregon/Idaho region. This is an opportunity for an engineer who enjoys the technical challenges of transportation drainage design and is ready to take on a leadership role supporting projects, mentoring engineers, and helping grow our practice.

The primary focus of this position is drainage and stormwater design for transportation infrastructure, including highways, roadways, intersections, transit corridors, and active transportation projects. You will serve as a technical resource for drainage design across the region, collaborating with our transportation and water teams to deliver practical, innovative engineering solutions.

While transportation drainage will be your primary focus, you may also provide expertise on site civil and community development projects.

We are looking for someone who brings strong technical experience, enjoys working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, and is interested in helping shape the future of our drainage practice.

This position may be based in Portland, Bend, Eugene, or Boise, with a hybrid schedule that supports collaboration with regional teams and clients.

Your Role on the Team:

- Lead drainage and stormwater design for transportation projects, including highways, roadways, intersections, transit corridors, and multimodal improvements.

- Design storm drain systems, culverts, detention, conveyance systems, and other drainage infrastructure.

- Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, including watershed assessments, runoff calculations, pipe sizing, and drainage system modeling.

- Prepare and oversee drainage reports, engineering calculations, plans, specifications, cost estimates, and construction documents.

- Collaborate with roadway, structural, environmental, and other engineering disciplines to integrate drainage solutions into transportation projects.

- Apply department of transportation and local agency drainage design standards and requirements.

- Provide technical guidance, design reviews, and quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) for drainage-related deliverables.

- Build and maintain relationships with transportation clients and agency partners, contributing to proposals, project pursuits, and new business opportunities.

What You Bring to the Team:

- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related engineering discipline.

- 10+ years of progressive civil engineering experience, with significant experience in drainage design for roadway and transportation projects.

- Professional Engineer (PE) license, preferably in Oregon or Idaho, or the ability to obtain licensure through reciprocity.

- Strong technical background in hydrology, hydraulics, storm drain systems, culvert design, stormwater conveyance, and drainage infrastructure.

- Experience preparing drainage reports, calculations, engineering plans, and construction documents for transportation projects.

- Familiarity with ODOT, ITD, or comparable state and local transportation agency design standards.

- Proficiency with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and drainage design tools, such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HY-8, StormCAD, Civil 3D, or similar applications, as applicable to your project experience.
