Dealership Fixed Operations Manager

Fixed Operations Managers are responsible for overseeing the entire service & parts department operations, ensuring it is exceptional customer service, managing departments to profitable margins and maintaining smooth running operations. Their responsibilities include staffing, customer & employee retention, cost controls, achievement of objectives, and maintenance of all service records.

Responsibilities

- Ensure customers receive prompt, courteous, and effective service

- Serve as a liaison between technicians and customers

- Take ownership of customers’ experience by carrying out additional assignments, enabling the dealership to leave an positive impression with the customer

- Manage and hire technicians, parts & service advisors

- Interview and make new hires

- Distribute work between technicians

- Prioritize required services

- Ensure customers have a positive dealership experience

- Provide concierge support for all owner inquiries, whether via phone or in person, to ensure the customer does not get mishandled

- Spend quality time building relationships with the customers

- Manage expense accounts

- Inventory management to maintain an optimal level of inventory to support Service and Wholesale accounts while minimizing obsolescence.

- Ensure proper accounting of incoming and outgoing parts transactions for proper inventory reconciliation monthly.

- Manage special orders process to ensure delivery of unprotected inventory.

- Operate within manufacturer's operating guidelines for compliance.

- Work with third-party inventory company on annual physical inventory checks.

- Maintain professional relationships with manufacturer reps, wholesale accounts, vendors, and employees.

- Manage manufacturer returns and core cost recovery.

- Effective delegation of daily, weekly & monthly tasks to ensure efficient operation of the department.

- Review performance metrics vs benchmarks and forecasting goals, focusing on profitability & expense control.

Qualifications

- Technical automotive knowledge

- Have excellent organizational, communication & problem-solving skills.

- Demonstrated ability to manage others

- Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage a team in a fast-paced environment.

- Organized and friendly personality

- Dealership experience in both service and parts preferred

- Ability to understand and work with accounting structure & financial statements.
