Mechanical Design Engineer
True Talent Solutions Partners · San Francisco · onsite
ABOUT THE ROLE
Join a hands-on hardware team developing autonomous robots for industrial environments. You will take mechanical subsystems from concept through working prototype, helping bring robotic systems from demonstration to practical deployment.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Own mechanical subsystem design from initial sketches through prototyping and iteration, selecting materials, tolerances, and manufacturing methods.
- Design parts and assemblies in CAD, using hand calculations and FEA to inform engineering decisions.
- Build and iterate on prototypes using 3D printers, shop tools, and CNC equipment.
- Integrate mechanical designs with motors, sensors, electronics, and actuators on robotic arms and mobile bases.
- Collaborate with electrical, software, and robotics teams to develop complete autonomous systems for real-world deployment.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Two to five years of mechanical hardware design experience, including work on 6DOF robot arms or comparable multi-axis robotic systems.
- A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Proficiency with SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Onshape, or equivalent CAD tools.
- Experience taking physical robot prototypes from concept to working hardware, including mechanisms, joints, drivetrains, or end effectors.
- Hands-on fabrication experience with 3D printing, CNC machining, and shop tools, in addition to CAD and simulation work.
- Experience integrating mechatronic systems with motors, sensors, or actuators; FEA or topology optimization experience is also relevant.
- Ability to own subsystems end to end and make progress in a fast-moving, hands-on team.
