Job Description:
Support the Agile transformation across Acquiring by coaching teams, Product and Technology practitioners, and leaders to adopt and embed effective Agile and Product-led ways of working.
The role will work closely with the Agile Director, Product, Technology, business teams and transformation partners to translate the target operating model into practical team-level behaviours, routines and delivery practices.
The initial focus will be on hands-on coaching: assessing team maturity, improving ways of working, strengthening Product and delivery disciplines, and building the internal capability needed to sustain the transformation. The Agile Coach will help teams apply Agile principles pragmatically rather than mechanically, adapting practices to the needs of NI.
The role is accountable for enabling adoption, capability building and continuous improvement within the teams and domains it supports. Product and delivery outcomes remain a shared responsibility across Product, Technology and the wider organisation.
Responsibilities:
1. Coach Teams in Agile & Product-Led Ways of Working
- Provide hands-on coaching to Product and Technology teams as they adopt and mature Agile ways of working.
- Help teams establish practical working rhythms, ceremonies, planning approaches and collaboration practices appropriate to their context.
- Coach teams to improve flow, transparency, ownership, predictability and continuous improvement.
- Help teams identify delivery impediments and support them in addressing issues within their control, escalating systemic barriers where appropriate.
- Encourage teams to inspect and adapt their ways of working rather than follow frameworks mechanically.
- Support healthy collaboration across Product, Technology, business and enabling functions.
2. Strengthen Product & Delivery Practices
- Coach Product Managers and Product Owners on Product discovery, prioritisation, backlog management, outcome definition and value-based decision-making.
- Help teams connect customer problems, business priorities and Product outcomes to delivery plans and day-to-day work.
- Support clearer roles, ownership and accountability across Product and delivery teams.
- Coach teams in breaking down work, defining clear outcomes and maintaining transparent, prioritised backlogs.
- Support teams in using appropriate metrics and feedback loops to understand progress, value and areas for improvement.
- Promote closer collaboration between Product and Technology from discovery through delivery and learning.
3. Build Agile Capability
- Build Agile knowledge and practical capability across Acquiring through coaching, facilitation and structured learning.
- Coach and develop Scrum Masters, Product Owners, Product Managers, Technology leads and Agile champions.
- Design and deliver workshops, training sessions and practical learning interventions aligned to the transformation roadmap.
- Contribute to communities of practice and the Product & Agile Centre of Excellence established by the Agile Director.
- Develop and maintain practical playbooks, coaching materials, examples and reusable tools that teams can apply independently.
- Identify internal practitioners with the potential to become coaches or champions and support their development.
4. Drive Adoption & Continuous Improvement
- Help leaders and teams understand the intent behind new ways of working and translate changes into practical behaviours.
- Observe team dynamics and ways of working, provide constructive feedback and challenge behaviours that undermine effective Product delivery.
- Facilitate retrospectives and improvement discussions that lead to clear, owned actions.
- Work with the Agile Director to identify recurring organisational barriers and provide evidence from teams to inform broader transformation priorities.
- Monitor adoption and maturity using agreed measures, combining quantitative indicators with qualitative coaching observations.
- Help embed a culture of learning, experimentation, transparency and continuous improvement.
5. Support Transformation Delivery & NI Ownership
- Support the Agile Director in implementing the Agile transformation roadmap across teams and domains.
- Work alongside transformation partners to ensure external expertise is translated into sustainable internal capability.
- Capture lessons, patterns and feedback from coaching engagements and use them to improve transformation approaches.
- Support pilots and new practices, evaluate what works, and help scale successful approaches across Acquiring.
- Contribute to the progressive transfer of knowledge and ownership from transformation partners into NI.
