SUMMARY:
The main purpose of this position is to the be responsible for the maintenance, installation, power and turn-up (if necessary) of all switch-related hardware
QUALIFICATIONS:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Perform hardware installations & replacements when necessary, adhering to EKNs safety & quality standards.
2. Work to ensure our Atoll propagation models are accurate & up to date with EKNs spectrum assets.
3. Perform preventative maintenance to switch-related hardware including HVAC, power plant equipment & servers/switches.
4. Look for new ways to efficiently improve our real estate & power capabilities both for existing equipment as well as new gear.
5. Work with our IT team as it relates to projects & upgrades of IT/IP core switches & routers.
6. Assist switch operations technicians in the monitoring of our cellular network systems.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
1. Position requires an Associates Degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school;
2. Minimum 3 years experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
3. Familiarity with telco hardware & power systems.
4. Basic computer knowledge.
5. Familiarity with or aptitude for working with hand & power tools and test equipment.
NICHE SKILLS:
Requires familiarity with various testing tools and troubleshooting. Able to diagnose, install and repair equipment at the component level. Average recruitment period is 6 weeks to 3 months with advanced and recruitment effort.
MENTAL EFFORT AND ANALYTICAL ABILITY:
Position requires some mental effort or analytical ability in order to gather and interpret information, but is limited to situations where the problems are not difficult for complex.
VISUAL AND/OR PHYSICAL STRAIN:
Work frequently produces a high level of mental, visual and/or physical fatigue between 21% and 50% of work time.
CONTACTS WITH OTHERS:
This position nearly constantly (more than 80% of work time) requires contact with others within and/or outside the company. Important matters are discussed and/or decisions made. The overall success of the Company is likely to be influenced as a result of these contacts.
INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT AND CONSEQUENCE OF ERROR:
Assignments are received in the form of results expected but incumbents have considerable freedom to decide on work priorities and procedures to be followed. Errors result in significant impact in terms of cost, time, money or public/employee good will, such as delays in important projects or schedules.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Position has no responsibility for the work of others..
WORK CONDITIONS:
Job involves frequent exposure to one or more unpleasant (noise, dust, etc.) or hazardous conditions 21% to 50% of total work time.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL ABILITIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Climb stairs and/or ladders
Lift boxes weighing up to 150 pounds such as test equipment, tools, frames, servers, switches, etc.
Work under pressure in order to meet strict deadlines or respond to emergencies

Maintain attendance according to company policy
Provide on-call services upon short notice
Work on elevated surfaces
